IRGC Navy Warns Vessels to Stay Away from the Strait of Hormuz
The IRGC Navy warns all vessels to stay away from the Strait of Hormuz after Israeli ceasefire violations in southern Lebanon and what Tehran describes as Washington’s failure to uphold its commitmen
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced on Saturday that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed to maritime traffic, warning all vessels not to approach the strategic waterway.
In a statement issued by the IRGC Navy’s Public Relations Office, the force said the measure was taken in response to what it described as the Zionist regime’s crimes in Lebanon and the United States’ failure to honor its commitments regarding the ceasefire.
“The Strait of Hormuz is closed to all vessels,” the statement said, adding that ships approaching the area would place their security at risk.
Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters Announces Closure
The announcement followed an earlier statement from the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, which confirmed that maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz had been suspended once again.
According to the headquarters, the decision was taken in response to continued ceasefire violations by Israel in southern Lebanon and Washington’s failure to implement the first article of the memorandum aimed at ending the war.
The statement accused Israel of carrying out continuous attacks in southern Lebanon, causing mass displacement and civilian suffering while maintaining its military presence in occupied Lebanese territory.
“The Strait of Hormuz will be closed to vessel traffic,” the headquarters declared.
Iran Warns of Further Measures
Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters described the closure as the first stage of Iran’s response to what it called enemy breach of commitments.
The statement warned that additional measures have already been planned and could be implemented if attacks continue and the agreed commitments are not enforced.
“This is the first step in responding to the enemy’s breach of its obligations,” the statement said. “Should the aggression continue, further steps have been prepared and will be carried out to compel the enemy to implement its commitments.”
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most strategically significant maritime chokepoints, serving as a major route for global energy exports. (PW)
