IRGC Navy: Only Iran-Designated Routes Permitted for Safe Passage Through Strait of Hormuz
The IRGC Navy has declared that vessels may only transit the Strait of Hormuz via routes designated by Iran, warning that navigation outside those corridors is prohibited and dangerous
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has issued a formal warning stating that safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz is only permitted via routes officially designated by the Islamic Republic of Iran, following reports that some authorities had announced a new shipping route without notifying or coordinating with Tehran.
In a statement, the IRGC Navy said, "A few hours ago, certain authorities announced a new route for vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz without informing or coordinating with the Islamic Republic of Iran. This route is unacceptable and completely dangerous."
Navigation Outside Iranian Routes Prohibited
According to the statement, the only authorized transit corridors through the Strait of Hormuz are those announced by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
"The only authorized routes for passage through the Strait of Hormuz are those announced by the Islamic Republic of Iran," the statement said.
The IRGC warned that any vessel navigating outside these designated routes would be entering an area considered both prohibited and highly dangerous.
It urged all commercial shipping to refrain from using any route other than those officially communicated by Iranian authorities.
Coordination via Channel 16 Mandatory
The IRGC Navy further announced that all vessels intending to transit the Strait of Hormuz must coordinate with the force through VHF Channel 16 before passage.
It warned that any vessel failing to comply with these requirements would be subject to enforcement measures.
The statement comes as regional authorities continue coordinating new maritime traffic arrangements following recent developments surrounding navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. (PW)
