IRGC Hits 8 US Military Targets in Kuwait and Bahrain After US Attacks on Iran
Iran launched missile and drone strikes on US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain after fresh American attacks on southern Iran, warning of broader retaliation.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM – The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) launched coordinated missile and drone strikes against US military positions in Kuwait and Bahrain early Sunday, hours after US forces carried out fresh attacks on military infrastructure in southern Iran.
Describing the operation as “a decisive missile and drone response to US aggression,” the IRGC said Washington’s latest attacks would not go unanswered and warned that any future violations would be met with a far stronger response.
Meanwhile, the head of the Iranian Parliament's National Security Commission said the latest exchange consisted of two consecutive rounds of US attacks and Iranian retaliation.
According to him, US forces struck five Iranian coastal positions overnight and were met with retaliatory strikes at eight separate locations, while a day earlier Washington attacked three locations and received responses at five locations.
IRGC Launches Joint Missile and Drone Operation
According to the IRGC, its Navy and Aerospace Force carried out a joint operation between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., firing ballistic missiles and drones at eight key US military installations, including Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet at Salman Port in Bahrain.
The operation came after US forces attacked five Iranian coastal positions earlier the same night. Tehran said Washington used Iran’s interception of a vessel accused of violating navigation regulations in the Strait of Hormuz as a pretext for the assault.
The IRGC reaffirmed that responsibility for regulating maritime traffic through the strategic waterway belongs to Iran under the Islamabad memorandum.
“Under the Islamabad memorandum, responsibility for regulating navigation through the Strait of Hormuz rests with the Islamic Republic of Iran. From now on, stronger action will be taken against violating vessels,” the statement said.
The IRGC added that any future military action by the United States would be answered with greater force.
“Any enemy aggression, under whatever pretext—even if directed at targets of lesser importance as in last night’s attacks—will receive a crushing response,” it said.
US Attacks Southern Iran
Hours before the Iranian operation, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced strikes on military infrastructure in Qeshm and Sirik in Hormozgan Province.
Washington said the attacks targeted surveillance systems, communications infrastructure, air defense sites, drone storage facilities, and naval mine-laying capabilities, claiming they were conducted in response to an alleged Iranian attack on a commercial vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian media reported explosions in Sirik, Qeshm Island, Bandar Lengeh, Bandar Kang, and other coastal areas following the US strikes.
Iran Warns Ceasefire Violations Will Halt the Agreement
The IRGC said the latest US attacks violated the recently signed Islamabad memorandum, which established a ceasefire and launched a 60-day negotiation process.
“The enemy must know that violating the ceasefire is contrary to the first article of the Islamabad memorandum and will lead to the suspension of the entire process,” the IRGC said.
Following the Iranian retaliation, Kuwaiti authorities claimed that air defense systems intercepted multiple missiles and drones approaching the country, while Bahrain activated air raid sirens across parts of the kingdom. No immediate casualties or significant damage were reported. (PW)
