Iran's IRGC denied reports of a direct communication channel with Washington over the Strait of Hormuz, saying the waterway is Iranian territory and "has nothing to do with America
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has rejected U.S. claims that a direct communication channel has been established between Tehran and Washington regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
In a brief statement issued Friday evening, the IRGC said reports alleging the existence of a direct line of communication between the two countries over the strategic waterway were false.
IRGC Rejects U.S. Claims
IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Hossein Mohebi dismissed the reports outright.
“We deny the claims made by American officials regarding the establishment of a direct communication channel between Iran and the United States concerning the Strait of Hormuz.”
He added that the issue falls entirely within Iran’s sovereignty.
“The Strait of Hormuz is Iranian territory and has nothing to do with America.”
Hormuz Is an Iranian Matter
The IRGC statement rejected reports alleging the existence of a direct communication channel between Iran and the United States over the Strait of Hormuz.
By stressing that the strait is Iranian territory, the IRGC reaffirmed Tehran’s position that Hormuz is not an American matter and that Washington has no role in determining its status. (PW)
