Drone Strike Targets Victoria Base at Baghdad Airport
In a separate statement issued Monday, the Iraqi Islamic Resistance faction “Saraya Awliya al-Dam” announced a drone attack on the U.S. military’s Victoria base located at Baghdad International Airport.
The statement read:
“In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
‘And there is life for you in retribution, O people of understanding.’ (Al-Baqarah: 179)In fulfillment of our religious duty, and in retribution for the blood of the Guardian of God — the Imam, the Master, and the martyred Leader Ali Hosseini Khamenei — and in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, our brave mujahideen today, Monday, March 2, 2026, carried out an operation using a unit of drones, targeting the Victoria military base at Baghdad Airport.”
The group framed the attack as part of a broader campaign of retaliation and solidarity with Iran, signaling continued escalation against U.S. military presence in the region. (PW)
