Iran’s Top Security Chief Reaffirms Unwavering Support for Lebanon During Visit to Beirut
Amid mounting regional tensions and Western pressures, SNSC Secretary Ali Larijani pledges solidarity with the Lebanese people and resistance groups.

Beirut, PUREWILAYAH.COM — On Wednesday morning, Ali Larijani, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), made a significant arrival in Beirut, marking a bold display of solidarity with Lebanon. Touching down at Rafic Hariri International Airport, he was received by a welcoming crowd waving banners, alongside high-ranking Lebanese officials—including Foreign Minister Rodrigue Khoury, representatives of Parliamentary Speaker Nabih Berri, and figures aligned with Hezbollah. Also present was Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani.
In his first remarks upon arrival, Larijani emphasised the deep historical and cultural ties binding Iran and Lebanon.
“There exists an emotional bond between Iranian and Lebanese cultures,” he noted, adding: “If the Lebanese people suffer, the Iranian people feel that pain as well. We will stand by the dear people of Lebanon in any circumstances. We are always seeking to help Lebanon secure its interests”.
Larijani’s visit, following his two-day diplomatic stop in Iraq, comes at a critical moment. He is scheduled to meet with Lebanon’s top leadership—ranging from the prime minister and president to various ministers and parliamentary deputies—to discuss bilateral relations and broader regional developments.
As pressure mounts on Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah—a move strongly advocated by the United States and Israel—the solidarity message from Iran garners public resonance. On social media, the hashtag #Iran_Is_Support_Not_Supervisor has surged in popularity among Lebanese citizens, journalists, and Muslim communities. The campaign counters Western narratives that frame Hezbollah as dependent on Iran, asserting instead that Tehran’s role is rooted in mutual respect and shared resistance aspirations.
This wave of collective sentiment underscores widespread opposition in Lebanon to foreign pressure aimed at weakening the country’s resistance capabilities. A recent poll further confirms that a majority of Lebanese oppose the disarmament of Hezbollah, citing the Lebanese army’s inability to effectively counter Israel alone.
Larijani’s visit coincides with ongoing tensions following the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah that took effect on 27 November 2024. Although the agreement required Israel’s complete withdrawal, Israeli forces have since violated its terms more than 3,700 times, raising alarms within Lebanon about the fragile stability of the peace framework.
