Iran's Retaliatory Drone Targets U.S. Embassy in Kuwait
Smoke rose from the U.S. Embassy compound in Kuwait after an Iranian drone strike, as Tehran presses retaliation against U.S.-Israeli aggression.
Kuwait, PUREWILAYAH.COM - An Iranian drone strike successfully targeted Washington’s embassy compound in Kuwait on Monday, according to The New York Times, citing two U.S. officials speaking on condition of anonymity. Verified footage circulating online showed thick plumes of smoke rising from the vicinity of the compound.
An Agence France-Presse correspondent in Kuwait also reported smoke billowing from the impact area following a fresh wave of Iranian strikes. The operation marked the third consecutive day of retaliatory actions by Tehran against U.S.-Israeli interests in the region, carried out in response to ongoing aggression against Iran.
Following the strike, the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait issued a security alert urging the public to avoid the area, warning of continued missile and drone threats, and advising American nationals to shelter in place away from windows.
U.S. Fighter Jets Downed Amid Regional Escalation
In a parallel development, U.S. Central Command acknowledged that three F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets were shot down over Kuwait, claiming the incidents resulted from “friendly fire” during support operations for Operation Epic Rage. Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense confirmed the losses and reported no fatalities.
Iranian state outlets, including IRNA, had earlier reported that Iran’s air defense systems downed a U.S. F-15 attempting to penetrate Iranian airspace, adding that wreckage fell inside Kuwaiti territory due to the proximity of the engagement zone to the border.
U.S. Bases Targeted as Retaliation Expands
Iran’s armed forces have continued targeting U.S. military infrastructure across the region as part of their declared retaliation for U.S.-Israeli aggression against Iran’s sovereignty and people. In Kuwait, the Ali al-Salem Air Base came under significant attack, with authorities reporting multiple interceptions at dawn.
Despite interceptions, falling debris ignited a fire at the West Doha power station, while fragments caused minor injuries to two workers at the Mina al-Ahmadi refinery. Kuwaiti officials said the situation was brought under control, even as regional tensions remain elevated amid continued Iranian operations.
The strikes underscore Tehran’s determination to impose tangible costs on U.S. military and diplomatic assets in the region as long as the assault on Iran continues. (PW)
