Iran’s Leadership Structure Cannot Be Broken Through Assassination or War
Senior Iranian commander says the Islamic Republic emerged stronger after the martyrdom of its Leader, stressing that the system of leadership and governance remains fully intact
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Major General Mohsen Rezai stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has demonstrated the resilience of its political and leadership structure following the martyrdom of Iran’s Leader, declaring that the system “cannot be broken through assassination, war, or political pressure.”
Speaking in an interview with Al Mayadeen, Rezai said Iran’s political structure is rooted in more than a century of state-building experience and remains stable despite enemy attempts to create internal collapse.
According to him, the Islamic Republic successfully managed the transition period after the assassination of the Leader without political chaos or military instability.
“The Islamic Republic stood firm during those days,” Rezai said. “This proved that Iran cannot be defeated through targeted assassinations.”
He emphasized that Iran’s system is not dependent on a single party or political faction, but operates through constitutional institutions including the Assembly of Experts and the Supreme Leadership Council.
Ayatullah Mojtaba Khamenei Chosen Through Constitutional Process
Rezai stated that multiple candidates were reviewed by the Assembly of Experts before Ayatullah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei was selected through what he described as a fully constitutional and institutional process.
He explained that the transition period lasted nine days and demonstrated the ability of the Islamic Republic to continue functioning even under extraordinary circumstances.
According to Rezai, the new Leader possesses decades of experience after working closely alongside the previous Leader for more than thirty years.
“He is not beginning from zero,” Rezai said. “The country, the armed forces, the IRGC, and the institutions of the state are fully under control.”
He stressed that the relationship between the Leader, the armed forces, and the branches of government is clearly defined within Iran’s constitutional framework.
Iran Has Entered a New Phase
Rezai also declared that Iran will not return to the previous phase of “strategic patience” following the recent war.
According to him, enemy attempts to destabilize Iran internally failed, while millions of Iranians rallied behind the Islamic Republic after witnessing the scale of American and Israeli aggression.
He stated that large numbers of Iranians registered for national mobilization campaigns following the war, with many expressing readiness to participate directly in armed resistance or logistical support operations.
“The Islamic Republic will continue its path with greater strength,” Rezai said. “These victories were achieved through sacrifice and martyrdom.”
He further stated that Washington fundamentally misunderstands Iranian society and repeatedly miscalculates the relationship between the Iranian people and the leadership of the Islamic Republic. (PW)
