Iran’s Foreign Minister to Visit China for SCO Ministerial Meeting
The top diplomat will travel to China to attend a ministerial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (S.C.O.), at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi will make an official visit to China on Monday, says the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry.
Esmaeil Baqaei made the announcement about Araqchi’s trip during an interview with reporters on Sunday evening.
According to Bagaei, the top diplomat will travel to China to attend a ministerial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (S.C.O.), at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
In addition to participating in the SCO meeting, Araqchi is scheduled to hold talks with Wang and several foreign counterparts attending the event. He is expected to present Iran’s positions on recent developments in the region and beyond.
China assumed the rotating presidency of the S.C.O. for 2024-2025, and the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the grouping will be held in the city of Tianjin on July 15.
Participants are expected to exchange views on SCO cooperation across various sectors and finalize arrangements for the upcoming summit. (PW)
