Iranian President Urges Islamic Countries to Sever All Ties with Israel
Extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit in Doha set to address “Israel’s” assault on Qatar and the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Qatar, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian urged Islamic countries to unite and sever all political, economic, and cultural ties with “Israel,” condemning what he described as the genocide in Gaza backed by the United States and several European states.
Speaking ahead of his departure for Qatar to attend an emergency Arab-Islamic summit, he accused the Zionist regime of disregarding all international laws and attacking multiple countries, including Qatar, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, and Yemen.
Pezeshkian stressed that Washington was legitimizing Israeli crimes by providing military and logistical support, and warned that only unified Islamic action could deter Israel from further aggression.
Qatar Hosts Emergency Summit After Airstrike
The call came just days after “Israel” carried out a deadly strike on Doha, targeting Hamas negotiators and killing several Palestinians along with a Qatari officer.
The attack triggered widespread condemnation across the Arab and Islamic world.
Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani accused the international community of double standards and demanded accountability for Israel’s actions.
In response, Qatar convened an emergency summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League. The meeting, hosted by the Emir of Qatar, is expected to draft a resolution condemning Israel’s aggression.
Attendees include President Pezeshkian of Iran, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, while Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s participation remains uncertain.
US Credibility Under Fire
The airstrike has also placed Washington in an awkward position. While President Donald Trump urged restraint and warned Israel to “be careful,” he simultaneously dispatched Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Tel Aviv in a show of support.
Analysts argue the incident undermines US credibility as a security guarantor in the Gulf, with Elham Fakhro of Harvard’s Middle East Initiative stating that the strike “exposed the inadequacy of current assurances.”
Karim Bitar, a lecturer at Sciences Po in Paris, described the Doha summit as a “litmus test” for Arab unity, cautioning that regional populations are increasingly frustrated with symbolic communiques that fail to deliver concrete action.
Draft Resolution Targets Normalization Efforts
A draft resolution prepared for the summit and seen by Reuters warns that Israel’s attack on Qatar, along with its broader policies of genocide, siege, settlement expansion, and colonization, jeopardizes ongoing and future normalization deals.
It reaffirms that such aggression “threatens prospects of peace and coexistence in the region.”
Israel’s Growing Isolation
Regional media and officials say Israel now faces a deepening diplomatic crisis. According to Israel’s Channel 13, the failed strike on Qatar has triggered a “political tsunami,” pushing former partners such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan closer to Iran.
The broadcaster noted that Israel’s isolation at the United Nations is intensifying, while its credibility as a regional ally is being questioned more than ever. (PW)
