Addressing Israeli citizens ahead of Passover, Lapid stated that the regime is facing “another security catastrophe,” pointing to alarming internal assessments delivered by Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir.
“I do not recall, in 13 years of service, a warning as severe as the one delivered last night,” Lapid said, emphasizing that multiple “red flags” have been raised regarding the army’s condition.
He warned that the Israeli military is “on the verge of collapse,” a statement that aligns with broader concerns over operational exhaustion and systemic strain.
Exhaustion, Shortages, and Strategic Failure
Lapid revealed that the Israeli army is no longer capable of sustaining reserve mobilization, with some reservists having been deployed for the sixth and seventh time, leaving them physically and psychologically depleted.
He further disclosed that regular forces are also deteriorating rapidly, with the army lacking sufficient personnel to carry out its missions effectively.
“The government is leaving the army wounded on the battlefield,” Lapid stated, criticizing the leadership for failing to address the growing crisis.
Additional concerns were raised over the continued exemption of ultra-Orthodox groups from military service, which Lapid described as a serious security risk that undermines military readiness.
