Trump announced that the agreement had been finalized, while Tehran confirmed that Washington had accepted an end to the war across all fronts and the immediate lifting of the naval blockade
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM – The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States have finalized a Memorandum of Understanding concerning the end of the war after months of intensive negotiations, with Washington agreeing to halt military operations across all fronts and lift the naval blockade imposed on Iran.
The development was announced separately by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
In its official statement, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council confirmed that the text of the Memorandum of Understanding regarding the negotiations to end the war was finalized on the night of 24 Khordad 1405 (June 14, 2026) following a lengthy and intensive negotiating process.
The formal signing ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, 29 Khordad 1405 (June 19, 2026).
Shehbaz Sharif Announces Agreement Has Been Reached
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that an understanding between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States had been reached following intensive negotiations.
According to Sharif, both sides agreed to the immediate and permanent cessation of military operations across all fronts, including Lebanon.
He stated that the official signing ceremony would be held in Switzerland on June 19.
Sharif also expressed appreciation to Iran and the United States for their commitment to pursuing a diplomatic solution, while thanking Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and other mediators involved in the process.
According to Sharif, mediators will facilitate a series of follow-up meetings in the coming days as part of preparations for implementing the understanding and launching subsequent technical negotiations.
Trump: The Agreement Has Been Finalized
Shortly afterward, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran had been fully finalized.
In his statement, Trump said that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened to international shipping and that the naval blockade on Iran would be lifted immediately.
He also called for the resumption of global maritime traffic and energy trade following the conclusion of the agreement.
Trump’s statement marked Washington’s formal acknowledgment of the understanding reached after months of negotiations.
Media Reports Reveal Final-Hour Diplomatic Activity
Several media reports published in the hours leading up to the announcement shed light on the intense diplomatic activity that took place during the final stage of negotiations.
Axios reported that Trump was furious with Benjamin Netanyahu after Israel’s aggression against Lebanon was seen as jeopardizing a deal that was nearing completion.
The report stated that Trump warned against further escalation that could derail the negotiating process.
Israel’s Channel 12 later reported that Washington offered additional incentives to Iran in an effort to prevent an attack on Israel. However, the report said Tehran rejected the proposal, insisting that its allies were not for sale.
Separate reports also claimed that Iran turned down an offer worth USD 12 billion in exchange for refraining from attacking Israel.
Meanwhile, Ynet reported that Trump even considered a unilateral lifting of the naval blockade on Iran as part of efforts to prevent further escalation.
At the same time, Tasnim reported the suspension of flights in western Iran until further notice.
Reports: Washington Offered Additional Concessions
As the negotiations approached their conclusion, several Iranian media outlets reported shifts in the U.S. position.
Entekhab reported that Washington ultimately offered new and more serious concessions regarding Lebanon while accelerating the removal of restrictions imposed on Iran.
Fars also reported that one of the issues under discussion involved a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, a move said to be aimed at reducing tensions and avoiding a direct Iranian response.
The reports emerged only hours before the finalization of the Memorandum of Understanding was announced.
Tehran Confirms End of War and Lifting of Blockade
In its statement, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council declared that the war and military operations across all fronts, including Lebanon, would end immediately and permanently.
The statement also confirmed the full and immediate lifting of the naval blockade on Iran.
Tehran added that negotiations toward a final agreement would continue after the implementation of the commitments outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding.
Iran also expressed appreciation to Pakistan and Qatar for their role in facilitating the negotiation process.
Iran: Steadfastness of the Nation and the Resistance Front Produced Results
Iranian state media described the development as the outcome of the Iranian people’s steadfastness, the preparedness of the Armed Forces, and the role played by the Resistance Front throughout the confrontation.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) stated that the United States ultimately accepted the end of the war after facing the resilience of the Iranian people and the strength of Iran’s military capabilities.
“With the power, steadfastness, and brave resistance of the Armed Forces and the people against the criminal enemy, America was forced to accept the end of the war,” IRIB stated.
The broadcaster also said that the Islamic Republic had imposed its will on the American-Zionist enemy, compelling Washington to accept the end of the war across all fronts.
A similar assessment was issued by the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, which stated that the Iranian people, the Armed Forces, and the Resistance Front had successfully imposed their will on the American and Zionist enemies.
Prior to the official announcement of the agreement, IRGC Aerospace Force Commander Major General Majid Mousavi called for national unity and adherence to the guidance of Ayatollah Khamenei.
In his message to the Iranian people, Mousavi urged the public to stand firmly behind the leadership of the Islamic Revolution and avoid any statements or actions that could undermine national unity.
He stressed that the Iranian nation should remain committed to the path laid down by Imam Khomeini and follow the guidance of Wilayat al-Faqih without deviating from the principles that have guided the Islamic Republic.
Although the Memorandum of Understanding has been finalized and the end of the war has been announced, the process toward a final agreement will continue through implementation measures and further negotiations in accordance with the framework agreed upon by both sides. (PW)
