Iran to UAE at BRICS: You Are an Aggressor, Not a Victim
Iran says the UAE directly joined the U.S.-Israeli war against the Islamic Republic and warns that all evidence of Abu Dhabi’s role has been documented and submitted to the United Nations.
India, PUREWILAYAH.COM —Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Kazem Gharibabadi said that Abu Dhabi was not merely a supporter of the recent U.S.-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic but was itself an aggressor under international law.
Responding to remarks by the Emirati minister of state for foreign affairs during the second session of the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting in New Delhi, Gharibabadi said the United Arab Emirates played a significant role in supporting and facilitating the military assault on Iran.
“Under the 1974 United Nations General Assembly resolution, states that provide facilities and services to aggressors are not merely assisting them. Their actions themselves constitute aggression,” he said. “The UAE is an aggressor, not a helper of aggressors.”
Iran Acted in Legitimate Self-Defense
Gharibabadi said Iran had no choice but to strike all American bases, facilities, and installations in the UAE that were used in the war.
“This was a war, and we defended our country,” he said, emphasizing that Iran’s actions were fully consistent with the United Nations Charter and the internationally recognized right of self-defense.
He stressed that the real victim of the conflict was the Islamic Republic of Iran, not the UAE.
Tehran Warned Regional States in Advance
According to Gharibabadi, Iran sent formal warnings to regional countries, including the UAE, several days before the aggression began.
Tehran informed them that if they allowed their territory and facilities to be used by the United States and Israel, Iran would be compelled to exercise its legitimate right of self-defense and target those installations.
“You ignored these warnings and are now trying to portray yourselves as victims,” he said.
130,000 Civilian Targets Hit, More Than 4,000 Martyred
Gharibabadi said that with Emirati assistance and direct participation, the aggressors struck 130,000 civilian targets across Iran.
He added that more than 4,000 innocent civilians were martyred during the assault.
“You are the aggressor. Therefore, you cannot accuse Iran of aggression,” he said.
More Than 120 Diplomatic Notes Submitted to the UN
The Iranian deputy foreign minister said Tehran has assembled extensive written documentation proving the UAE’s role in the war.
According to Gharibabadi, Iran has already sent more than 120 official diplomatic notes totaling over 500 pages to the United Nations Security Council.
He added that every warplane departing from the UAE was tracked and recorded, with precise dates, times, and flight paths.
“All of this evidence has been submitted to the Security Council,” he said.
“The UAE Betrayed Iran and Palestine”
Gharibabadi said the UAE not only betrayed a neighboring Muslim country but also betrayed the Palestinian cause.
He pointed to the decision to host Benjamin Netanyahu during the war and said Emirati officials consistently defend Israeli positions in international forums, including the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
“The UAE acts as a representative and protector of Israeli interests,” he said.
Iran Says It Has No Conflict with Its Neighbors
Gharibabadi emphasized that Iran’s war is with the Zionist regime and the United States, not with neighboring countries.
He said Tehran repeatedly contacted regional governments before and after the aggression, urging them not to provide military or logistical support to the attackers.
At the same time, he stressed that any country that chooses to participate in aggression against Iran must accept full responsibility for the consequences under international law. (PW)
