Iran Slams Israel’s West Bank Annexation Plan
Tehran slams Knesset’s approval as a colonial act violating UN Charter and international law
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset’s approval of a bill to annex the occupied West Bank, describing the move as a blatant violation of the UN Charter and an extension of the Zionist regime’s colonial and expansionist project.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei denounced the decision as “another step in the Zionist regime’s criminal and colonial expansionism,” stressing that it represents the continuation of eight decades of systematic violations against the Palestinian people’s fundamental right to self-determination.
He warned that the Israeli move “blatantly contravenes peremptory norms of international law, particularly those guaranteeing nations’ right to determine their own destiny.”
Linking Annexation to Genocide in Gaza
Baghaei drew attention to the ongoing gross violations of human rights and humanitarian law in the West Bank, occurring simultaneously with the genocide in Gaza.
He explained that Israel’s declared and practiced policies — including the illusion of a so-called “Greater Israel,” the establishment of new settlements, and the passage of expansionist legislation in the Knesset — reveal a clear plan for comprehensive ethnic cleansing across all occupied Palestinian territories.
Call for Global Action
The spokesman emphasized that these developments heighten the moral and legal responsibility of all governments to act decisively in preventing what he called the “colonial erasure” of Palestine.
He urged Islamic nations and the international community to take immediate measures to stop Israel’s aggression against the historical rights of the Palestinian nation.
Baghaei also called on the United Nations to fulfill its duties in confronting Israel’s persistent violations of Palestinian identity, sovereignty, and fundamental rights. (PW)
