Iran: Security in The Persian Gulf Requires Regional Cooperation
The security of the Persian Gulf and the interconnected security of its member states require the participation of all regional countries. A threat to one country’s security is a threat to all
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM – Iran’s top security official told his Emirati counterpart that security in the Persian Gulf region requires cooperation among all regional countries.
Ali-Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (S.N.S.C.), made the remarks during a Sunday phone call with Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the U.A.E.’s National Security Adviser.
“The security of the Persian Gulf and the interconnected security of its member states require the participation of all regional countries,” Ahmadian said. “A threat to one country’s security is a threat to the entire region.”
The Iranian official also thanked the U.A.E. for condemning Israel’s recent war of aggression against Iran. The two sides also discussed issues of bilateral importance and the most significant regional developments.
Sheikh Tahnoun, in turn, emphasized Iran’s important role in the region and echoed Ahmadian’s call for regional solutions to security challenges. “Disruptions to one country’s security will have negative effects on all others,” he said, reaffirming the U.A.E.’s support for dialogue to resolve disputes.
