Tehran Reviews US Draft Cautiously, Citing Washington's History of Broken Promises
Tehran is reviewing the latest US draft carefully, demanding enforceable guarantees while reaffirming its rejection of transferring Iranian nuclear materials abroad.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Tehran is continuing to review a draft memorandum related to ongoing nuclear negotiations with the United States, with Iranian officials emphasizing caution based on previous experiences and maintaining firm opposition to the transfer of Iranian nuclear materials abroad.
An informed source told Mehr News Agency on Tuesday that the final draft of a potential memorandum of understanding remains under discussion in Tehran and that no official response has yet been issued.
The source said that “the United States’ bad history of not keeping its promises has prompted Iran to deal with the issue very cautiously”, noting that “Iran, based on its past experiences, seeks to achieve real gains”.
He added that the United States is “worried about the war, and we are concerned about the agreement, because the US spent a lot on the war and did not achieve success”.
The source also stressed that “Iran’s basis in the agreement is a system of mechanisms that ensure tangible and reversible implementation procedures”, underscoring Tehran’s continued emphasis on guarantees and practical implementation measures in any future agreement.
Iran Rejects Transfer of Nuclear Materials
Meanwhile, Saeed Ajroui, a member of the media team of the Iranian negotiating delegation, revealed that Washington initially demanded the transfer of Iranian nuclear materials during the first phase of negotiations.
“In the first stage of the negotiations, the Americans were demanding the transfer of Iranian nuclear materials to America, a demand that was not accepted,” Ajroui said.
He explained that the issue no longer appears in the latest draft transmitted by Washington.
“In the latest textual amendment sent by America, the issue of transferring or disposing of the materials is not mentioned. Instead, it has sufficed with references to phrases such as ‘determining the status,’ or ‘the fate of the materials,’ or ‘resolving the matter of the materials,’” Ajroui explained.
The comments indicate that the latest American proposal no longer explicitly calls for the transfer of Iranian nuclear materials outside the country.
Iran Has Yet to Reveal All Its Winning Cards
Separately, Brigadier General Mohammad Jafar Asadi, Deputy for Inspection Affairs at the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, stated on Tuesday that Iran still possesses capabilities that have not yet been revealed.
“Iran has not yet revealed all of its winning cards,” Asadi said.
He stated that the United States seeks nothing less than Iran’s complete surrender, affirming that the Iranian people will never surrender. He stressed that if there is no surrender, then war is coming, noting, “Therefore, we are waiting and do not fear it.”
Asadi added that even if NATO joins a confrontation against Iran, there is no cause for concern.
The latest developments highlight continued uncertainty surrounding the Iran-US nuclear discussions, with Tehran maintaining its demand for guarantees, practical implementation mechanisms, and the protection of its strategic interests while negotiations remain under review. (PW)
