Iran Rejects Two-State Solution in Final Statement of Doha Summit
Tehran affirms unwavering support for Palestine, denounces Israel’s genocide and occupation, rejects two-state initiatives, and declares the U.S. unfit to mediate peace due to its complicity in Israel
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued an official note on Monday night, clarifying Tehran’s stance on the final statement of the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit in Doha held on September 15, 2025.
Iran reiterated its “unshakable support” for the Palestinian people’s inherent right to self-determination and condemned the “brutal crimes” committed by the occupying Israeli regime.
Tehran emphasized that its support for Palestine is unwavering under all circumstances, reaffirming that the crimes in Gaza amount to genocide and systematic state terrorism.
Rejection of the Two-State Solution
While acknowledging multiple initiatives reflected in the summit’s statement, including the “New York Declaration” and the Arab Peace Initiative, Iran firmly rejected the so-called “two-state solution.”
Tehran declared that such an approach cannot resolve the Palestinian question. Instead, Iran insists that the only just and sustainable solution is the establishment of a single democratic state in all of Palestine, formed through a national referendum involving all Palestinians—inside and outside the occupied territories—without exception.
Iran therefore dissociated itself from any reference to concepts such as “East Jerusalem,” “1967 borders,” or similar notions included in the Doha summit’s final statement.
U.S. Backing Israel’s Crimes
While commending the tireless efforts of Qatar and Egypt to secure an immediate ceasefire and alleviate Palestinian suffering, Iran sharply criticized Washington’s role.
The statement stressed that “the policies and actions of the United States have in practice sustained and reinforced Israel’s aggression against the Palestinian nation.”
According to Tehran, this reality disqualifies the U.S. from being considered a credible or impartial party in advancing a just and lasting peace. Instead, Iran emphasized that it is the joint responsibility of the international community to uphold international law, support Palestinian resistance, and protect the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
The Foreign Ministry requested that Iran’s reservations be formally recorded in the summit’s final report. (PW)
