Iran Expresses Readiness for Diplomatic Engagement with European Troika on JCPOA
Tehran Open to Dialogue with France, Germany, and Britain to Salvage Nuclear Deal
Tehran, PUREWILAYAH.COM – Senior Iranian diplomat Abbas Araghchi has reiterated Iran’s willingness to engage in direct talks with France, Germany, and Britain to address ongoing disputes over the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Despite criticizing the European troika for failing to uphold their commitments, Araghchi signaled Tehran’s readiness for diplomacy to revive the beleaguered nuclear agreement.
"The Islamic Republic remains open to constructive dialogue with our European partners," Araghchi stated. "We are prepared to visit these nations to discuss practical solutions that ensure all parties fulfill their obligations under the JCPOA."
His remarks come amid lingering tensions following the U.S. withdrawal from the deal in 2018 under former President Donald Trump. Iran has repeatedly accused the European signatories of yielding to Washington’s pressure rather than defending the agreement. However, Araghchi’s latest comments suggest a potential shift toward renewed negotiations.
"The Europeans must demonstrate genuine political will, independent of U.S. influence, to restore the JCPOA’s viability," he emphasized. "Sanctions relief and credible guarantees are essential for any meaningful progress."
Despite stalled talks in recent years, Iran’s openness to diplomatic engagement with the European troika offers a glimmer of hope for reviving the deal. Observers suggest that face-to-face discussions could help bridge gaps, provided Europe takes concrete steps to compensate for U.S. sanctions.
As the future of the JCPOA remains uncertain, Iran’s latest stance underscores its preference for dialogue over escalation—provided that Western partners match words with action. (PW)
