Iran Declares End of UN Resolution 2231: A Sovereign Nuclear Era Begins
Tehran Confirms Full Termination of UNSC Restrictions, Rejects Western Attempts to Revive Sanctions
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM – The Islamic Republic of Iran has officially affirmed the expiration of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 as of 18 October 2025, declaring that all international restrictions tied to its peaceful nuclear program have formally and legally ended.
In a strong and detailed statement, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed:
“…all provisions and imposed limitations related to Iran’s nuclear program are now concluded, and from this date, Iran must be treated like any other non-nuclear weapon state under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).”
Tehran emphasized that with the conclusion of the 10-year period defined by Resolution 2231, the nuclear file must be removed from the Security Council’s agenda, and Iran must no longer be subjected to exceptional treatment or scrutiny.
Europe Engaged in an Illegal Maneuver to Obey U.S. Pressure
The statement forcefully condemned the attempts by Britain, France, and Germany to reactivate expired UN sanctions — calling their move a direct violation of international law and the JCPOA.
Iran stressed that these governments, having themselves breached the agreement, possess no legal standing to trigger any dispute mechanism.
Iran confirmed that the UN Security Council took no action to restore previous resolutions, thanks to decisive opposition from China and Russia.
UN Secretariat Warned: No Authority to Validate Western Breaches
Tehran issued a formal warning to the United Nations Secretariat, insisting it must correct misleading claims on its platforms regarding any alleged return of sanctions:
“No international institution, including the UN Secretariat, has the mandate to override the final expiration of Resolution 2231. Any attempt to do so is null and void.”
The Foreign Ministry strongly denounced the UN Security Council’s failure to condemn repeated acts of U.S.–Israeli military aggression, including attacks on Iranian territory and sabotage of peaceful nuclear facilities, calling them:
“A grave betrayal of diplomacy and a direct assault on international law.”
Iran expressed appreciation for:
China and Russia, for defending legal order at the Security Council.
Algeria, Pakistan, South Korea, and Guyana, for refusing to endorse the European operation.
Non-Aligned Movement and the Group of Friends of the UN Charter, for recognizing the lawful end of Resolution 2231.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran remains committed to diplomacy — while resolutely defending the legitimate rights and national interests of the Iranian people, including the full peaceful use of nuclear energy.”
With the end of Resolution 2231, Iran has exited the era of imposed supervision. Despite Western pressure campaigns, the international balance — led by resistance nations and sovereign states — now recognizes Iran as a free nuclear-capable nation under international law. (PW)
