Imam Hussain’s Teachings Seen as Blueprint for Modern Life, Scholar Says
At international media gathering, Islamic leader urges adoption of Imam Hussain’s values of gratitude, service, and resilience
Tehran, PURWILAYAH.COM - Hojat al-Islam Sayed Abdolfattah Navvab, representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in Hajj and Pilgrimage affairs, has called on global media outlets to highlight the timeless values of Imam Hussain (A.S) and to promote his lifestyle as a guiding model for today’s challenges.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the second international media event “We Are the Children of Imam Hussain (A.S),” Navvab said, “The words of Imam Hussain (A.S) are alive for all of history and must always be applied.”
He highlighted the uniqueness of the annual Arbaeen Great Walk, describing it as unparalleled among global pilgrimages.
“There are 25 walks in the world, with routes spanning thousands of kilometers, rocky terrains, and even paths where people crawl on the ground. But none can be compared with the Arbaeen pilgrimage,” he noted.
Drawing on the Supreme Leader’s “second phase statement,” Navvab underscored that lifestyle is a cornerstone of societal reform. He pointed out that Imam Hussain’s guidance on self-purification, gratitude, and appreciation offers practical solutions for modern societies, spreading what he described as “positive energy to others.”
Quoting the Imam, he added: “Know that people’s needs directed toward you are among God’s blessings, and gratitude for this blessing must be expressed. Good and commendable deeds are beautiful, and practicing them addresses the needs of today’s society.”
The event gathered international media professionals to explore ways of communicating the legacy of Imam Hussain (A.S) across borders, with organizers stressing the role of ethical and spiritual values in shaping global discourse. (PW)
