ICE Agents Publicly Kill A Man in Minneapolis for Filming Them
Federal agents open fire on unarmed civilian amid Operation Metro Surge, sparking outrage and calls to end the militarized crackdown
United States | PUREWILAYAH.COM — A man was shot and killed by US federal immigration agents in Minneapolis during an ongoing enforcement operation, igniting protests and renewed calls from state and city officials to end what they describe as a reckless and violent federal crackdown under the Trump administration.
The fatal shooting occurred Saturday morning near 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue during Operation Metro Surge, a federal immigration campaign that has seen a heavy deployment of armed agents in the city. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed the man was shot by a federal agent and later died at a hospital.
Video Footage Challenges Federal Narrative
The US Department of Homeland Security claimed that officers fired while attempting to disarm an armed individual. However, multiple videos circulating on social media sharply contradict this account.
Footage shows masked agents in tactical gear confronting a man who appeared to be standing nearby and filming the agents during what appeared to be an arrest. He was not seen committing any illegal or suspicious act.
In the videos, an ICE agent is seen initiating physical contact, shoving the man before other agents swarm in. The man is repeatedly pepper-sprayed, kicked, and beaten as he falls onto the snow-covered street. Moments later, multiple gunshots are fired, and the man collapses.
Another angle obtained by Drop Site News shows the man being provoked and unlawfully approached by ICE agents before he was shot.
Claims of a Weapon Not Supported by Evidence
Federal officials asserted that the man was armed. Video footage does show a firearm in the man’s waistband, but at no point is the weapon drawn or aimed at officers.
In one clip, an agent can be heard shouting, “He’s got a gun,” yet the footage indicates that only one agent noticed the weapon amid the assault. Despite being outnumbered by at least six agents, the man was not subdued, raising serious questions about training, rules of engagement, and use of force.
Witness videos indicate the man was shot multiple times, with gunfire continuing even after he fell to the ground.
Victim Identified as US Citizen With No Criminal Record
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said the victim was a 37-year-old city resident, believed to be a US citizen and a lawful gun owner with no criminal record. Authorities have not publicly released his name.
O’Hara described the scene as volatile and urged the public to avoid the area, while distancing local police from the federal operation.
Minnesota Leaders Demand Federal Withdrawal
Governor Tim Walz condemned the killing in stark terms, calling for an immediate end to the federal operation.
“This is sickening,” Walz wrote on X. “I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.”
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey echoed the call, asking how many more residents must be harmed before the operation is halted.
“How many more residents, how many more Americans need to die or get badly hurt for this operation to end?” Frey said at a news conference.
Two US senators from Minnesota also joined calls for federal agents to leave the state.
A Pattern of Federal Violence
The Minneapolis killing marks another high-profile incident amid an expanding federal immigration crackdown, reinforcing accusations that Washington is deploying militarized, unaccountable forces inside American cities.
As video evidence continues to spread, critics say the shooting exposes the reality behind US claims of “law and order”: a system that criminalizes observation, silences documentation, and responds to scrutiny with lethal force. (PW)
