HORRIFIC! Palestinian Journalist Reveals Torture and Abuse Inside Israeli Prisons
In a letter conveyed through her lawyer, Hassan Abbadi, Farah Abu Ayyash recounts harrowing details of torture, isolation and humiliation.
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Farah Abu Ayyash, a Palestinian journalist for Tasnim News Agency in Hebron (Al-Khalil) has been held by Israel for over 100 days without charge. In a letter delivered through her lawyer, Hassan Abbadi, she recounts horrific abuse, torture, and humiliation at the hands of Israeli soldiers.
She was arrested on 6 August 2025 during a night raid on her home in Beit Ummar, north of Al-Khalil, before being transferred to the Moskobiya detention center in occupied Jerusalem (Al-Quds), where she was subjected to repeated torture, harassment, and abuse by Israeli prison guards.
Tasnim initially refrained from publicly reporting the case after consultations with intermediary journalists and her lawyer, citing concerns about the legal process and potential threats to Abu Ayyash’s family.
However, once her own testimony from inside the prison surfaced—detailing severe torture and degrading treatment—the agency formally disclosed the case.

Tasnim Confirms Months of Torture and Suppression
According to Tasnim, the decision to go public was made to expose the inhumane and senseless actions of the Israeli regime against an innocent journalist whose work focused solely on documenting the realities of occupation in the West Bank and expressing solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza following the Israeli assault of October 2023.
Throughout her detention, Abu Ayyash endured conditions that Tasnim describes as savage torture, ranging from physical abuse to psychological pressure. These actions occurred despite her strictly journalistic role and complete lack of involvement in any activity beyond reporting.
False Israeli Claims and the Targeting of Journalists
Tasnim strongly rejected Israeli claims linking Farah Abu Ayyash to anything beyond legitimate journalistic duties. Her reports for the agency consistently highlighted the humanitarian impact of Israeli occupation policies and the suffering of Palestinian civilians—a mission that made her a target for Israeli forces seeking to silence critical reporting.
The case of Farah Abu Ayyash adds to the growing body of documented abuses committed by Israeli forces against Palestinian journalists, underscoring the systematic attempts to suppress media coverage of the occupation and its violations. (PW)
