Hezbollah’s Roadside Bombs Haunt Israeli Forces as Guerrilla Shift Intensifies Pressure
Hezbollah shifts to guerrilla warfare as roadside bombs hit Israeli forces, while 2,184 operations in 45 days signal sustained resistance despite escalation
Lebanon, PUREWILAYAH.COM - A Hebrew-language report indicates that Hezbollah has moved away from conventional defensive warfare, pivoting toward guerrilla tactics and partisan-style operations—an evolution now imposing mounting pressure on Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.
According to the report quoted by Tasnim, the threat of roadside bombs has re-emerged as a persistent battlefield danger, described as “a nightmare that continues to pursue our forces,” echoing patterns seen in the 1980s and 1990s.
The shift in tactics is said to be reshaping the operational environment, with Hezbollah leveraging terrain to its advantage. Lebanon’s rugged geography and dense vegetation are identified as key factors enabling the effective deployment of improvised explosive devices.
The report acknowledges that such weapons have created a lethal challenge: roadside bombs targeting armored vehicles and infantry units form “a deadly combination,” while efforts to detect and neutralize them remain highly difficult.
Hezbollah: 2,184 Operations in 45 Days, Averaging 49 Per Day
This battlefield reality is further reinforced by Hezbollah’s own operational data. Hezbollah announced that it carried out 2,184 military operations between March 2 and April 16, 2026, during a 45-day confrontation with Israeli forces.
In a statement, the movement described the campaign as a sustained defensive effort marked by “unprecedented heroic epics” in the face of ongoing aggression.
Operations included direct engagements with Israeli forces on Lebanese territory, alongside strikes on military positions, bases, and installations deep inside occupied Palestinian territories.
Hezbollah stated that its strikes reached up to 160 kilometers inside occupied territories using a combination of drones and missiles.
The statement framed the operations as a response to attacks on civilians and widespread destruction of residential areas and infrastructure, emphasizing that the tempo of resistance remained high.
“Our fighters carried out operations at an average rate of 49 per day,” the statement said.
Despite Israel’s military capabilities, Hezbollah stressed that the campaign had failed to suppress resistance activity: “The enemy’s killing machine was unable to stop our fighters or halt their duty to defend Lebanon and its people.”
The statement concluded with a message of continued readiness and defiance:
“Our fingers remain on the trigger, and we are ready to confront any violation—the flag of resistance will never fall.” (PW)
