Hezbollah: Resistance Will Not Retreat in Confronting “Greater Israel” Project
Mahmoud Qomati says Hezbollah will not remain silent in the face of the Zionist regime’s expansionist agenda in Lebanon and Syria, rejecting any form of direct negotiations with Tel Aviv.
Lebanon, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Hezbollah has declared that the Resistance will not retreat in confronting the Zionist regime’s expansionist project aimed at extending its influence across Lebanon, Syria, and other countries in the region.
The statement was made by Mahmoud Qomati, Vice Chairman of Hezbollah’s Political Council, who accused the Zionist regime of pursuing a “Greater Israel” project with full backing from the United States and the cooperation of certain regional actors.
Speaking in remarks cited by RIA Novosti and reported by Islamic Republic News Agency, Qomati said Tel Aviv seeks to seize Lebanon’s land, airspace, and maritime resources as part of a long-term expansionist agenda.
“The Zionist regime is working to expand its influence in Lebanon, Syria, and across the region. This is a project supported by the United States and some regional parties,” he said.
Two Approaches Inside Lebanon
Qomati said Lebanon is currently divided between two strategic approaches in dealing with Zionist aggression.
The first advocates resistance and confrontation to defend national sovereignty, while the second favors compromise and accommodation with the occupation regime.
According to Qomati, past experience has shown that the Zionist regime has never honored any of its commitments.
“Every agreement with Israel has ultimately been violated. The only language the enemy understands is the language of اstrength,” he said.
Rejecting Direct Negotiations with Tel Aviv
The senior Hezbollah official warned against any direct negotiations between Lebanon and the Zionist regime.
He said such talks, if conducted without national consensus, would undermine Lebanon’s internal unity and risk strategic concessions detrimental to the country.
Qomati stressed that any dialogue with Tel Aviv, if deemed necessary, must be strictly indirect and conducted solely within a framework that safeguards Lebanon’s national interests.
Resistance Power as the Only Guarantee
Qomati emphasized that the Zionist regime retreats only when confronted with real resistance power.
He said the liberation of occupied Lebanese territory, the defense of national sovereignty, and the preservation of security cannot be achieved without maintaining the military capabilities of the Resistance.
“Israel only retreats in the face of the Resistance’s strength. Lebanon’s national objectives cannot be achieved without preserving this capability,” he stated.
He added that Hezbollah will continue responding to every Israeli aggression and will not allow the occupation regime to reimpose old equations in southern Lebanon.
Efforts to Disarm the Resistance
The remarks come amid mounting political pressure on Hezbollah, including efforts by the United States and the Zionist regime to push the Lebanese government toward disarming the Resistance movement.
At the same time, Tel Aviv continues its attacks and maintains occupation of parts of Lebanese territory in an attempt to establish a permanent security belt similar to the buffer zone imposed in the Gaza Strip.
Despite opposition from various domestic factions, the Lebanese government has reportedly decided to enter talks with the Zionist regime under U.S. mediation.
Hezbollah views this move as part of a broader campaign to weaken the Resistance and alter the strategic balance that has long served as Lebanon’s primary shield against Israeli aggression. (PW)
