Hezbollah MP: Lebanon-Israel Agreement Meant to Spark Civil War
Senior Hezbollah MP Ihab Hamadeh condemned the Lebanese government’s agreement with Israel, calling it a US-mediated deal aimed at fueling internal conflict and serving Israeli interests.
Lebanon, PUREWILAYAH.COM – As strong reactions from Hezbollah officials continue over the Lebanese government’s agreement with the Israeli regime, Ihab Hamadeh, a senior member of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc, also issued a sharp condemnation of the deal, describing it as an agreement concluded through US mediation and to Lebanon’s detriment.
Hamadeh stressed that the position taken by Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri regarding the understanding was clear and decisive, noting that Berri had equated the agreement itself with sedition.
He added that the sole objective of the agreement is to ignite civil war among the Lebanese people and serve Israel.
The senior Hezbollah representative stressed that the government’s gamble is not only against the Resistance and its weapons, but against all Lebanese. He said the Lebanese people should understand that the government is betting on internal conflict as its final gamble.
No Authority to Surrender Even an Inch of Lebanon
Hamadeh further stated that what has been described as the “framework of the agreement” had already collapsed and that the document was “stillborn” because the government is incapable of dragging the country into civil war.
He added that it cannot grant Israel what it failed to obtain during the war and possesses no legal legitimacy to relinquish even a single inch of Lebanese territory.
The senior Hezbollah lawmaker concluded by citing the explicit provisions of the Lebanese Constitution, stressing that no one—not the president nor any other official—has the authority to relinquish even a single inch of Lebanon’s territory. (PW)
