Hezbollah, Lebanese President Condemn Israeli Massacre in Bekaa
Israeli strikes kill civilians in eastern Lebanon as officials warn attacks aim to undermine diplomacy and normalize aggression
Lebanon, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Israeli airstrikes on Friday evening killed 10 people and wounded at least 24 others, including three children, in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health. Earlier the same day, Israeli forces also targeted the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp in Saida, killing two people and injuring several others.
The attacks sparked strong condemnation from Lebanese political forces, who said the strikes constitute a blatant violation of the ceasefire framework reached on November 27, 2024.
Hezbollah MP: Israeli Attacks Are a Massacre
Hezbollah lawmaker Rami Abu Hamdan, representing the Bekaa I District, described the strikes as a massacre, stressing that “the blood of the Lebanese is not a cheap commodity.”
He urged Lebanese authorities to adopt a fundamental shift in their approach to defending the country, warning that routine condemnations no longer deter Israeli aggression.
Abu Hamdan rejected treating repeated strikes on Bekaa and southern Lebanon as “normal” or expected developments ahead of ceasefire monitoring meetings.
Calling for swift and effective state action, he warned that policies of restraint only embolden the occupation, emphasizing that political maneuvering without deterrence wastes lives and resources. He paid tribute to the resistance and reaffirmed loyalty to the path of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, stressing steadfastness in the face of aggression.
President Aoun: Attacks Seek to Undermine Diplomacy
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the Israeli raids on Bekaa and Saida, describing them as a hostile act aimed at sabotaging Lebanon’s diplomatic efforts with regional and international partners, including the United States.
Aoun said the attacks represent a clear violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and a breach of international commitments, citing UN resolutions, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 1701. He urged countries claiming to support regional stability to exert immediate pressure to halt Israeli attacks and prevent further escalation.
Lebanese officials and resistance figures warned that continued Israeli aggression threatens civilian lives, regional stability, and diplomatic tracks, stressing that accountability and deterrence—not normalization—are essential to safeguarding Lebanon’s sovereignty and security. (PW)
