Hezbollah Issues Open Letter, Reaffirms Right to Resist, Slams Israeli Violations and U.S. Interference
The Movement Reaffirms Commitment to Lebanon’s Sovereignty, National Unity, and Rightful Defense Against Zionist Aggression
Lebanon, PUREWILAYAH.COM — The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, Hezbollah, has issued an open letter reaffirming its commitment to Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity, and stability, while condemning ongoing Israeli aggression and the clear violations of the November 2024 ceasefire agreement.
The letter, addressed to Lebanon’s three top leaders and to the Lebanese people, underscores the group’s determination to preserve internal stability and build a unified national stance in the face of Zionist attacks and political pressure.
Hezbollah declared that its position aims to thwart renewed attempts to drag Lebanon into indirect negotiations that would serve only the strategic and political ambitions of the Zionist entity and its Western sponsors.
The 2024 Ceasefire Agreement and Its Terms
The letter revisited the terms of the ceasefire declaration of November 27, 2024, which was mediated by former U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein following indirect talks between Lebanon and the Zionist entity.
The deal was presented as a mechanism to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006), which defines the area south of the Litani River as free of armed groups and obliges Israel to withdraw beyond the so-called Blue Line.
According to the statement, the ceasefire began with the clause:
“Israel and Lebanon will implement a cessation of hostilities beginning at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in accordance with the commitments detailed below.”
Article Two stipulated:
“As of 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the Government of Lebanon shall prevent Hezbollah and all other armed groups within Lebanese territory from carrying out any operations against Israel, and Israel shall refrain from any offensive military operations against Lebanese territory, including civilian, military, or state targets, by land, air, or sea.”
The clauses continued through Article 13, establishing a framework of mutual restraint.
Continued Israeli Violations and Political Blackmail
Hezbollah emphasized that while both it and the Lebanese government have fully adhered to the ceasefire, the Zionist entity continues to violate it repeatedly by land, air, and sea.
These ongoing hostilities, the group said, reflect Israel’s intention to impose submission on Lebanon through aggression and political extortion, mirroring its expansionist designs in Palestine, including the forced annexation of the West Bank.
The movement denounced what it called a “hasty governmental error” in raising the issue of a “monopoly of arms,” warning that such rhetoric is being exploited by the enemy as a pretext to demand the disarmament of the Resistance — a condition absent from the ceasefire terms and categorically rejected by Hezbollah.
The group reiterated that the question of arms must not be dictated by foreign powers but discussed within a national framework of consensus, grounded in a comprehensive defense strategy that protects Lebanon’s sovereignty.
“Israel Seeks to Undermine Lebanon, Not Just Hezbollah”
The letter warned that the Zionist entity’s objective extends far beyond targeting Hezbollah — it seeks to undermine Lebanon as a nation, dismantle its defense capabilities, and force it into submission to Zionist and Western interests.
“As a founding component of Lebanon, the nation we are committed to as a final homeland for all its children,” Hezbollah wrote, “we reaffirm our legitimate right to resist occupation and aggression.”
The statement added:
“Legitimate defense does not fall under the framework of ‘decisions of war or peace’; rather, it is the exercise of our right to resist an enemy that imposes war upon our land, refuses to cease its assaults, and seeks to subdue our state.”
Hezbollah concluded by urging all Lebanese factions to adopt a unified and dignified national stance, asserting that only national unity can effectively confront external threats, uphold Lebanon’s rights, and preserve its independence.
Israeli Escalations and UN Confirmation of Violations
The open letter comes amid renewed Israeli aggression against Lebanon despite the 2024 ceasefire. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has confirmed a surge in Israeli violations — by land, air, and sea — including reconnaissance overflights and artillery shelling near villages such as Aita al-Shaab and Hula.
These incidents have reignited fears of a new confrontation, prompting official protests from Beirut and widespread condemnation of Tel Aviv’s disregard for Resolution 1701.
Hezbollah, while responding cautiously, vowed to preserve deterrence and defend national sovereignty, calling the violations proof of Israel’s intent to erode Lebanon’s independence rather than secure peace.
U.S. Mediation and Renewed Pressure
In parallel, U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein has returned to Beirut to revive border and disarmament discussions, while Western governments intensify pressure on Lebanese leaders to revisit the so-called “national defense strategy” and the issue of Hezbollah’s arms.
This renewed diplomatic push follows the pattern of Washington’s interference in Lebanon’s internal affairs, with the U.S. serving as both mediator and enabler of the Zionist regime’s ongoing violations.
Continued Israeli Strikes
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation army continues its attacks on Lebanese territory. On Wednesday, the Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed that one person was martyred and another wounded in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon.
According to Al-Mayadeen’s correspondent, an Israeli drone targeted a car in the town of Burj Rahhal, in the Tyre district. Earlier the same day, Israeli forces fired machine guns from the border wall toward the outskirts of Kfar Kila.
These attacks underscore the persistent state of Israeli aggression against Lebanon — aggression carried out with U.S. coordination and impunity, in clear violation of international law and the very ceasefire Israel claims to uphold. (PW)
