Hezbollah Announces Martyrdom of Senior Commander Sayyed Abu Ali in Israeli Aggression
Assassination of Haitham Ali al-Tabatabai marks a new escalation in Tel Aviv’s campaign of aggression backed by Washington
Lebanon, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Hezbollah has announced the martyrdom of senior military commander Haitham Ali al-Tabatabai, known as Sayyed Abu Ali, after an Israeli airstrike struck a residential building in Haret Hreik, in Beirut’s Southern Suburb, on Sunday.
The Israeli occupation army launched the attack on the fourth and fifth floors of a civilian apartment block on al-Areed Street, killing five people and wounding 28, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
The strike marks one of the most severe escalations since the so-called ceasefire imposed last year—yet another violation in Israel’s long record of disregard for international law and regional stability.
A Foundational Resistance Leader
In its announcement, Hezbollah mourned the loss of a commander widely regarded as one of the founding pillars of the Islamic Resistance’s military structure. Sayyed Abu Ali spent decades confronting the Israeli occupation, shaping key military formations, and leading operations that would help define the movement’s modern battlefield capabilities.
He was deeply involved in the Resistance’s growth from its earliest stages, contributing to the establishment of Hezbollah’s elite forces following the assassination of Hajj Imad Mughniyeh. The Resistance described him as a model of steadfastness, sincerity, and lifelong dedication to defending Lebanon.
Hezbollah: Martyrdom Will Strengthen the Resistance
In its statement, Hezbollah affirmed that al-Tabatabai’s martyrdom—like the sacrifices of commanders before him—would only deepen the resolve of the Resistance and intensify the struggle against the Israeli occupation and its primary sponsor, the United States.
The movement emphasized that the blood of its commanders has historically fueled victories, inspired fighters, and strengthened the unity of Lebanon’s Resistance Axis against Israeli and American aggression across the region.

In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
“Among the believers are men who have remained true to their covenant with Allah. Some have fulfilled their pledge [through martyrdom], while others await their turn, never wavering in their commitment.”
With great pride and honor, Hezbollah announces to the people of the Resistance and our Lebanese nation the martyrdom of the esteemed jihadi commander Haitham Ali al-Tabatabai (Sayyed Abu Ali), who ascended as a martyr in defense of Lebanon and its people following a treacherous Israeli attack on the Harat Hreik area in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
This great commander has now joined his fellow martyrs after a long wait to meet God Almighty, concluding a life devoted to jihad, sincerity, dedication, and steadfastness on the path of resistance. Until his final breath, he was unwavering in his efforts to confront the Israeli enemy.
He never tired or faltered in defending his land and people. Since the early days of the Resistance, he was among its founding commanders, laying the groundwork for a movement that remains strong, dignified, and capable of protecting the nation and achieving victories.
God has bestowed upon him the exalted status of martyrdom. His sacrifice will continue to inspire strength, resolve, and hope among his fellow fighters, just as his presence in life was a source of power and inspiration. The fighters will carry his sacred blood, as they have carried the blood of all martyred leaders, moving forward with courage and determination to defeat all schemes of the Zionist enemy and its sponsor, the United States.
We extend our condolences and congratulations to our Master, the Imam of the Age [Imam Mahdi] (may God hasten his reappearance), to his brothers-in-arms and fellow resistance fighters, to the steadfast and patient supporters of the Resistance, and to all free people around the world on the martyrdom of this prominent jihadi commander and his fellow martyrs who fell alongside him. We also extend our heartfelt sympathies to their noble families, asking God Almighty to grant them patience and solace, and to bestow a speedy recovery upon the wounded.

A Turning Point in Israel’s Violations
Sunday’s attack adds to the more than 5,000 documented Israeli ceasefire violations, forming part of a consistent pattern of unprovoked aggression targeting Lebanon.
The assassination of a senior commander inside a densely populated area reflects Israel’s determination—backed by the United States—to destabilize Lebanon and weaken its Resistance.
As Lebanon mourns one of its most accomplished military commanders, Hezbollah has made clear that the crime will only reinforce its determination to confront Israeli and American aggression across the region. (PW)
