Hamas: Trump’s Envoy Sides with Tel Aviv Instead of Acting as a Mediator
A senior Hamas official said that US President Donald Trump’s envoy, instead of acting as a mediator in the Gaza ceasefire file, is strongly siding with Tel Aviv.
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Osama Hamdan, a senior Hamas leader, told Yemen’s Al Masirah TV that Nikolay Mladenov, a representative of Trump’s Peace Council, is fully siding with the positions of the Israeli regime.
He said Mladenov has made no commitment to the Palestinians’ demands and has reduced the entire issue to the disarmament of the Resistance, a condition that is unacceptable to the Palestinian factions.
Hamdan stated that Mladenov’s main problem is that, instead of playing the role of a mediator, he is expressing the official position of the Israeli regime.
He outlined three main problems with Mladenov’s approach.
First, he has made no commitment to any of the Palestinians’ demands, including the implementation of the first phase of the agreement.
Second, he has refused to respond to Hamas’ request to compel the occupation to fulfill its commitments and provide practical guarantees that it will do so.
Third, he has reduced the entire issue to the disarmament of the Resistance, even though this is unacceptable by consensus among the Palestinian factions.
Israel’s Efforts to Divide the Resistance Will Fail
The Hamas leader stressed that the Israeli enemy seeks to create divisions among the Resistance fronts. However, he said this effort reflects the deadlock facing the Israeli regime and will never succeed because there is complete understanding among the Resistance forces.
Hamdan concluded by expressing appreciation for the support shown by the Resistance fronts to Palestine. He said all efforts by the Israeli regime and its allies to isolate the Palestinians from the Islamic Ummah will fail, while the Resistance front will continue to expand. He added that this support will remain recorded in the history of the Islamic Ummah.
Hamas Ready to Transfer Gaza Administration to National Committee
Separately, the Palestinian Information Center reported that Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem announced the movement’s full readiness to hand over all areas of governance in the Gaza Strip, including the security file, to the National Committee for Gaza Administration, and called on the mediators to facilitate the committee’s entry into the Strip as soon as possible.
Qassem said that accelerating the entry of the National Committee into Gaza and enabling it to begin its work was one of the main issues discussed during Hamas’ recent talks in Cairo.
He stressed, “We have once again affirmed our full readiness to hand over all areas of governance, including the security file, to this committee and to cooperate to the fullest extent to ensure the success of its mission.”
The Hamas spokesman criticized the Security Council’s performance, saying it is unacceptable that months after the committee was established, it has still been unable to facilitate its entry into Gaza and has effectively remained passive in the face of the Israeli regime’s demands.
Qassem expressed hope that the mediation efforts would soon succeed in enabling the National Committee to enter Gaza so that it can organize the situation in the Strip and begin a genuine humanitarian relief process that would ease part of the suffering of the Palestinian people. (PW)
