Occupied Palestine – The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has fiercely condemned the Colombian government’s decision to open an embassy in occupied Al-Quds, labelling the move a blatant violation of international law, UN resolutions, and the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
In a resolute statement, the Resistance stressed that Al-Quds is an integral part of occupied Palestinian territory. By establishing a diplomatic mission in the holy city, Colombia is actively participating in the Zionist entity’s illegitimate attempts to impose its false sovereignty over the eternal capital of Palestine.
The movement sharply criticised Colombia’s current administration for abandoning the principled, anti-imperialist stance of former President Gustavo Petro. Petro had rightly severed diplomatic ties with the Zionist regime in response to its genocidal war of extermination on Gaza. Hamas warned that this shameful policy reversal aligns Bogotá with an apartheid entity that is currently facing unprecedented global isolation and legal accountability for its crimes against humanity.
Hamas urged the Colombian government to immediately rescind the decision and refrain from taking any steps that undermine the legitimacy of the Palestinian cause. The movement reiterated that such actions deny the Palestinian nation its right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.
The condemnation follows the official inauguration of Colombia’s embassy in occupied Al-Quds, a ceremony attended by Colombia’s foreign minister alongside the Zionist regime’s foreign minister—a display of complicity that has drawn widespread outrage from Palestinian factions and solidarity movements across the globe.
