Hamas Official: Israel Must Face Global Boycott
Dr. Khaled Al-Qaddoumi Denounces Israel for Genocide, Urges Its Suspension from the United Nations and Calls for Cutting Economic Ties
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - The international community must sever all economic ties with Israel over its ongoing military campaign in Gaza and should question its membership in the United Nations, Hamas’ representative in Iran, Dr. Khaled Al-Qaddoumi, declared in an interview with RT published on Wednesday.
Al-Qaddoumi condemned Israel for committing genocide and obstructing every attempt at peace
He insisted that symbolic gestures and verbal condemnations are insufficient and that the world must adopt decisive political, diplomatic, and economic measures to stop the assault on Palestinians.
Offensive in Gaza and Strike on Doha
His remarks came amid a new Israeli offensive in Gaza City and in the aftermath of last week’s airstrike on Doha, the Qatari capital, which killed six people, including a local security officer.
The Hamas official emphasized that Israel had deliberately undermined mediation efforts. Qatar and Egypt, he noted, had played essential roles in facilitating negotiations between Hamas and Israel since the Gaza war began.
Yet, according to Al-Qaddoumi, those efforts were destroyed by Tel Aviv’s actions. “[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu came and killed our leaders and then made a new invasion and he destroyed the residential towers inside Gaza,” he told RT.
He added that Hamas had accepted proposals and was prepared for a full prisoner swap, but the negotiations collapsed after Israeli escalations.
Call for Global Boycott and Suspension of Israel
Al-Qaddoumi urged the international community to move beyond empty words.
“We should today question the membership of Israel as a member state to the United Nations. We should question all bilateral deals with Israel. We should cut all the economic ties,” he said.
The Hamas envoy argued that a political decision must be made to halt what he described as a genocide in Gaza, insisting that only pressure of this scale can compel Israel to stop.
Praise for Spain’s Move, Criticism of Western Complicity
Al-Qaddoumi welcomed Spain’s recent decision to halt all defense cooperation with Israel, praising it as the type of action necessary to increase international pressure.
Earlier this week, Madrid canceled more than $1 billion worth of defense contracts with Israeli companies, including deals for rocket launchers and anti-tank missiles, according to media reports.
“This is the kind of measure we need to see from all nations,” he said, stressing that economic disengagement is essential to force accountability.
At the same time, Al-Qaddoumi condemned the United States, accusing Washington of hypocrisy and of enabling Israeli aggression. He noted that although “everybody was condemning the attack over Qatar” and the “random killing of the common man in the street,” no concrete measures were taken.
Through his statements, Al-Qaddoumi made clear that Hamas views international inaction as enabling further bloodshed.
He repeated that Israel must be isolated diplomatically and economically, suspended from international institutions such as the UN, and confronted with collective global pressure until it ends its campaign in Gaza. (PW)
