Hamas Mourns Senior Qassam Commander Muhammad Odeh
Thousands of Palestinians joined the funeral procession of Muhammad Odeh “Abu Amr” and his family after an Israeli airstrike targeted their home in Gaza City’s Al-Rimal neighborhood
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM — The Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas on Wednesday mourned the martyrdom of senior Al-Qassam Brigades commander Muhammad Odeh, widely known as “Abu Amr,” who was killed together with his wife and three children in an Israeli airstrike targeting Gaza City.
Odeh was assassinated in a late-night Israeli strike that targeted a residential building in the Al-Rimal neighborhood in western Gaza City.
The attack also claimed the lives of his wife, known as Umm Amr, and their three children: Yasser Muhammad Odeh, Yahya Muhammad Odeh, and Jamila Muhammad Odeh.
Hamas described Odeh as one of the senior commanders of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the movement, noting that after the martyrdom of Ezzeddine al-Haddad, he was regarded as among the highest-ranking commanders within the brigades.
The movement paid tribute to Odeh’s role in the path of Resistance and condemned what it described as a terrorist assassination carried out by the Zionist regime against Palestinian Resistance leaders and civilians in Gaza.
The Israeli strike targeted an apartment inside a residential complex in the heavily populated Al-Rimal district, causing widespread destruction and civilian casualties.
The assassination comes amid ongoing Israeli bombardment across the Gaza Strip as the occupation continues its military campaign against Palestinian civilians and Resistance factions.
Hamas stressed that the killing of Resistance leaders would not stop the path of jihad and Resistance, emphasizing that the blood of the martyrs would strengthen Palestinian determination against the occupation.
Thousands Attend Funeral Procession in Gaza
In a related development, massive crowds of Palestinians took part on Wednesday in the funeral procession of Muhammad Odeh and his family in Gaza City.
According to the Palestinian Information Center, the funeral procession began after noon prayers from Al-Nour Mosque on Al-Thawra Street, with thousands carrying the bodies of the martyrs on their shoulders.
Mourners chanted slogans condemning Israeli aggression and affirming continued support for the Resistance.
Earlier in the day, Hamas had called on Palestinians to participate widely in the funeral procession, describing Odeh as a steadfast Resistance commander who “rose with dignity and honor in the fields of jihad and sacrifice.”
The movement stated that the martyr had “written a new page of dignity and honor with his blood,” as grief and anger spread across Gaza following the assassination. (PW)
