GAZA — The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has strongly reaffirmed the Palestinian people’s deep-rooted attachment to their land, sacred sites, and inalienable rights. In a resolute statement issued on Monday marking the 109th anniversary of the infamous Balfour Declaration, the movement vowed to remain steadfast on the path of resistance until all occupied Palestinian territories are liberated and refugees are granted their Right of Return.
The Gaza-based resistance movement emphasised that the oppressive crimes and colonial tactics employed by the Zionist occupation regime will never succeed in erasing the national identity of the Palestinian people or abolishing their inherent historical rights.
Hamas highlighted that the anniversary of the 1917 Balfour Declaration—a document that laid the groundwork for the occupation of Palestine—arrives amidst a backdrop of escalating Zionist aggression and rampant violations across the besieged Gaza Strip, the occupied West Bank, and occupied Al-Quds.
“In the absence of decisive international action, our people in the Gaza Strip continue to endure a catastrophic humanitarian crisis amid ongoing genocide. Meanwhile, forced displacement and illegal settlement expansion continue to escalate in the West Bank and Jerusalem in blatant violation of international law,” the statement read.
Describing the 109th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration as one of the most profound injustices in modern history, Hamas recalled how the British government arrogantly issued a promise “that gave what it did not own to those who had no right to it.”
The resistance group noted that this entrenched colonial mentality continues to dictate Zionist policies today. This is evident in the relentless killings, the suffocating blockade, the weaponisation of starvation, and the mass displacement currently devastating Palestinians in Gaza, as well as the continuous raids and oppression inflicted upon cities, towns, and refugee camps throughout the West Bank.
“These crimes are timeless and will stand as undeniable proof of the terrorism perpetrated by the occupying regime and its Western backers,” Hamas declared.
Concluding its statement, the movement issued a powerful demand for effective and immediate international intervention. Hamas called on the global community to compel the Tel Aviv regime to halt its relentless offences, to prosecute its political and military leaders as war criminals in international courts of justice, and to support the Palestinian people in reclaiming their stolen rights and freedoms.
