GAZA CITY — The leadership of the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, has issued a stark warning to international mediators regarding a looming humanitarian catastrophe in the besieged Gaza Strip as winter rapidly approaches.
During high-level talks on Saturday, Hamas Political Bureau Chief Khalil al-Hayya condemned the ongoing atrocities committed by the Zionist regime and highlighted the catastrophic deterioration of living conditions for displaced Palestinians.
According to statements released by the resistance, al-Hayya warned of severe and worsening risks posed by the impending winter months. He noted that the continuous bombardment and ground incursions by Zionist forces have reduced vast areas of the Strip to rubble, leading to the widespread collapse of already war-damaged residential buildings.
The resistance leader specifically pointed to the brutal, US-backed siege imposed by the occupying regime, which has deliberately restricted the entry of essential survival materials. Al-Hayya condemned the blockade on heavy machinery, rescue equipment, tents, and shelter materials—vital resources needed to protect displaced families from the imminent cold, rain, and freezing temperatures.
Al-Hayya called upon the mediators—namely Qatar and Egypt—to take concrete and immediate actions rather than offering empty diplomatic promises. He demanded they exert tangible pressure on the Zionist entity to fully honour its commitments under the ceasefire agreements. This includes an immediate halt to all military aggression, the withdrawal of occupying forces, and the unconditional opening of border crossings for the influx of heavy machinery and humanitarian aid.
In response to the resistance’s demands, mediators reportedly reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating urgent relief efforts and pushing for the strict implementation of the agreed-upon truce terms to prevent a total collapse of the situation.
The warnings come as the two-million-strong population of Gaza endures what international human rights organisations have described as a total breaking point. With millions still trapped in the ruins of their neighbourhoods, the deliberate deprivation of adequate shelter threatens to compound the immense suffering inflicted by the Zionist regime’s ongoing genocidal war.
