Hamas: Israeli Assassination of Indonesian Hospital Director Is a Crime Against Humanity
The occupation army continues its systematic targeting and destruction of the healthcare system, assassinating its staff of doctors and paramedics in unprecedented crimes in modern history
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) condemned what it described as a horrific crime committed by the Israeli occupation army, which targeted the home of Dr. Marwan Al-Sultan, director of the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza. The airstrike resulted in his martyrdom along with his wife and five of their children.
In a statement issued Wednesday, Hamas said, “The occupation army continues its systematic targeting and destruction of the healthcare system, assassinating its staff of doctors and paramedics in unprecedented crimes in modern history.”
The movement emphasized the need for urgent action to stop the Israeli occupation, end its ongoing atrocities, and bring its leaders to international justice for crimes against humanity.
A Devastating Blow to an Already-Collapsing Health Sector
Dr. Marwan Al-Sultan was one of the most prominent physicians working in northern Gaza. He played a central role in managing the Indonesian Hospital, which served as the frontline medical facility receiving casualties from Israeli attacks, especially during recent escalations.
This latest crime comes amid the continued targeting of Gaza’s health sector, which is facing severe collapse due to the ongoing blockade, the destruction of hospitals, and the systematic assassination and targeting of medical personnel—constituting a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.
