Hamas Denies Receiving Trump’s Gaza Plan, Reaffirms Conditions for Any Agreement
The Movement stresses prisoner release tied to ending the war and withdrawal of occupation forces, rejecting U.S. schemes that bypass Palestinian rights.
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM – Hamas has denied receiving any official copy of U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed plan to end the war on Gaza, reaffirming that the movement was not a party to Washington’s negotiations and that any agreement must directly address the core Palestinian demands.
Hamas official Taher al-Nounou stated on Monday that the movement “did not receive any version of the American plan currently being promoted.”
He clarified that Hamas had no role in shaping the proposal and reiterated that Palestinian prisoners held by the resistance would only be released as part of an agreement that ensures an end to the war and a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
“The weapons of the resistance,” al-Nounou stressed, “are linked to the establishment of a Palestinian state.”
Readiness for a Long-Term Truce
Despite rejecting US-Israeli dictates, Hamas expressed willingness to pursue a truce lasting several years.
Al-Nounou confirmed that the movement had accepted an Egyptian proposal for the creation of an independent administration to govern Gaza.
He added: “We are serious about the release of prisoners within an agreement that ends the war on Gaza and guarantees the withdrawal of the occupation.”
Hamas also signaled readiness to reach a consensus with the Palestinian Authority to form a national unity government to administer both Gaza and the West Bank.
No to Foreign Guardianship
The Hamas official stressed that the movement does not want the war to continue, and pledged to study any proposal presented by mediators—provided it does not conflict with Palestinian national interests.
“The Palestinian people are not minors, and they will not accept any form of foreign guardianship,” al-Nounou said, underscoring the movement’s rejection of external impositions and U.S.-backed attempts to dictate the future of Gaza.
Washington’s Agenda Exposed
The Washington Post reported on Sunday that Trump’s plan consists of 21 points, beginning with an immediate cessation of military operations and freezing battle lines at their current positions.
For Palestinians, such terms amount to an effort to legitimize Israel’s war gains and absolve Tel Aviv of responsibility for two years of genocidal assault on Gaza.
While Washington and Tel Aviv push frameworks designed to preserve Israeli dominance, Hamas has underlined that only a deal ending the war, lifting the siege, and securing Palestinian sovereignty will be considered. (PW)
