Hamas Condemns U.S. Envoy’s Proposal to Establish Palestinian State on French Soil
Hamas described the remarks as a disgraceful reflection of the fascist occupation’s narrative that seeks to erase Palestinian ties to their land and holy sites.”
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has issued a sharp condemnation of recent remarks made by U.S. Ambassador to the Israeli-occupied territories, Mike Huckabee, who suggested that a Palestinian state could be established on part of French territory. Hamas described the remarks as deeply offensive and politically dangerous.
In an official statement released on Sunday, Hamas denounced Huckabee's proposal as “a blatant disregard for our people's legitimate national rights and a flagrant violation of international law and UN resolutions.”
The group further described the remarks as “a disgraceful reflection of the fascist occupation’s narrative that seeks to erase Palestinian ties to their land and holy sites.”
“The statements by the U.S. envoy provide political cover for the Israeli regime’s ongoing crimes, including genocide and forced displacement, in its attempt to impose a new reality in Gaza,” the statement read.
Hamas emphasized that Huckabee’s comments once again highlight the United States’ unwavering bias toward the Zionist occupation and its colonial expansionist agenda. The movement warned that such rhetoric undermines efforts for a just and lasting peace and further emboldens Israel’s oppressive policies against Palestinians.
The resistance group also called on the United Nations and the international community to “take serious and responsible action to support the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle for freedom, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on their own land.”
Huckabee’s Provocation
Mike Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas and evangelical pastor, made the controversial statement during an interview with Fox News. He criticized European countries, including France, for moving toward recognizing Palestinian statehood at a time when, according to him, Israel is still engaged in a war in Gaza.
“It’s incredibly inappropriate in the midst of a war that Israel is dealing with to go out and present something that I think increasingly Israelis are steadfast against,” Huckabee said.
His remarks came shortly after French President Emmanuel Macron stated that recognizing a Palestinian state is “not only a moral duty, but a political necessity.” Macron also warned that France could consider imposing sanctions on Israeli settlers if the regime continues to block humanitarian aid to Gaza and ignores international pressure to end its blockade.
A Record of Bias
Huckabee has long been known for his hardline pro-Israel views, including support for the annexation of the occupied West Bank and opposition to Palestinian statehood. Human rights organizations have repeatedly criticized him for statements that dehumanize Palestinians and legitimize illegal settlement activities in the West Bank.
The latest controversy adds to growing international concern over the United States’ role in shielding Israel from accountability amid its military onslaught in Gaza, which has killed tens of thousands and caused a spiraling humanitarian crisis. (ARN)
