Hamas Calls for Pressure on Israel to Open Rafah Crossing and Let Aid Flow into Gaza
Ridwan urged the international community to take concrete action — not mere words or symbolic gestures — to open the crossings and end what he described as a U.S.-backed genocide in Gaza.
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Senior Hamas official Ismail Ridwan has called on international mediators to pressure the Israeli occupation to open the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the besieged Gaza Strip, to facilitate the entry of urgent humanitarian aid.
In remarks to the media on Sunday evening, Ridwan reaffirmed that Hamas and all Palestinian Resistance factions remain committed to upholding the ceasefire agreement, stressing the movement’s full support for its implementation.
However, he condemned Israel’s continued violations, noting that despite the truce’s terms, the occupation persists in its aggression.
He pointed out that the occupation continues its repeated violations despite the agreement stipulating a ceasefire and an end to targeting civilians, explaining that the number of martyrs has reached 241 since the signing of the agreement, according to Al Jazeera.
Humanitarian Crisis Worsens Under Israeli Blockade
Ridwan warned that the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, with famine and critical shortages of medical supplies worsening daily.
He revealed that only 150 to 200 aid trucks have been allowed to enter Gaza each day — far below the 600 trucks agreed upon in the ceasefire framework.
Ridwan clarified that the resistance is keen to conclude the file of the bodies of the occupation’s captives as quickly as possible, explaining that Hamas has informed the mediators of its readiness to withdraw the fighters from the “yellow zone” within the ongoing humanitarian understandings.
U.S. and Europe Complicit in Gaza Genocide
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation state has continued to commit massacres and genocide against civilians in the Gaza Strip, with American and European support, including killing, starvation, destruction, displacement, and arrests, in disregard of international appeals and the rulings of the International Court of Justice calling for an end to the aggression.
The ongoing aggression has left more than 239,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, in addition to more than 11,000 missing persons, and hundreds of thousands of displaced people facing severe famine that has claimed many lives, amid widespread destruction affecting most cities and areas of the Strip.
