Ghalibaf: Dahiyeh Attack Exposes Once Again America's Failure to Honor Its Commitments
Ghalibaf stressed that if the United States is unable or unwilling to honor its commitments, there is no basis for continuing the current course of engagement.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that the Israeli attack on Beirut’s Southern Suburb once again exposed Washington’s true position regarding its commitments in the region.
In a post on social media, Ghalibaf said the aggression demonstrated that the United States either lacks the will or the ability to fulfill its obligations.
“The Zionist attack on Dahiyeh once again showed that America either does not have the will to implement its commitments or does not have the ability to do so,” Ghalibaf wrote.
“You cannot obtain concessions by giving the green light to this entity. The good-cop, bad-cop game has become an outdated tactic,” he added.
Ghalibaf further stressed that if the United States is unable or unwilling to honor its commitments, there is no basis for continuing the current course of engagement.
“If you do not possess the will and the capability to implement your commitments, then there can be no discussion about continuing along this path,” he said.
Iran Warns Crimes in Dahiyeh Will Not Go Unanswered
Meanwhile, the deputy commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters stated that the Israeli crimes committed in Beirut’s Southern Suburb would not remain unanswered.
His remarks came as Lebanese authorities updated the casualty toll from the Israeli airstrike on the Ghobeiry area in Dahiyeh.
According to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), the attack has so far resulted in three martyrs and 15 wounded.
US Was Informed Before Strike
In a related development, American media outlets reported that the Israeli occupation had informed the US Central Command prior to carrying out the airstrike in Beirut.
Fox News quoted a diplomat involved in ongoing negotiations as saying that Sunday’s attacks on Beirut were undermining efforts to finalize an agreement.
“The attacks on Beirut today are obstructing the completion of the agreement,” the diplomat said.
The source described the strike as “a clear Zionist attempt to sabotage the President’s agreement and drag the United States back into war.” (PW)
