General Rezaei: Trump Has Brought Negotiations to a Standstill
Mohsen Rezaei said Trump has stalled Iran-US negotiations and warned that renewed aggression could expand the conflict across the region.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Major General Mohsen Rezaei said US President Donald Trump has brought negotiations between Tehran and Washington to a standstill, warning that any renewed American aggression against Iran could expand the scope of the conflict across multiple strategic waterways and military theaters.
Speaking in an interview with CNN, Rezaei said the current deadlock in negotiations can only be broken by Washington.
“The ball is in Trump’s court,” he said.
Rezaei Warns Against Renewed US Aggression
Rezaei warned that if the war resumes and the naval blockade against Iran remains in place, the conflict will expand beyond the Persian Gulf.
“If the war continues and the naval blockade is not lifted, we will expand the conflict to the Indian Ocean, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the Red Sea, and the Mediterranean,” he said.
“We will add another dimension to the war by targeting additional American bases.”
Rezaei added that the United States would suffer far greater losses if it chooses to resume military aggression against Iran.
According to him, Washington would enter a “dark corridor” if it restarts the conflict.
Frozen Assets a Test of Trust
Rezaei said the future of any agreement between Iran and the United States depends on Washington’s willingness to release $24 billion in Iranian assets that remain frozen.
He described the issue as a test of trust between the two sides.
“If Trump is serious about negotiations, then $24 billion is not a significant amount for America,” Rezaei said.
“If he genuinely wants an agreement with Iran, releasing these funds would serve as a test of trust. This money belongs to Iran, not to America.”
According to Rezaei, the release of the assets could open a new horizon in relations between Tehran and Washington and help break the current deadlock in negotiations.
Rezaei’s Message to Trump
Asked about his message to the US president, Rezaei said Trump should make decisions independently of Israel and recognize the rights of the Iranian people.
“Mr. Trump must make decisions independently of Israel. He should recognize the rights of the Iranian people, end the blockade, and release Iran’s frozen assets,” he said.
According to Rezaei, such measures could open a new chapter in relations between Iran and the United States.
“Trump should set aside personal interests and think about the interests of the American people. If he has the courage to do so, many issues could be resolved in the future.”
Rezaei also dismissed the possibility of a meeting between President Trump and Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei, saying such a meeting would not take place while negotiations remain at a standstill. (PW)
