Gaza Resistance Inflicts Major Losses on Israeli Troops in South
Coordinated ambushes and explosive attacks target Israeli troops, tanks, and armored vehicles in Khan Younis
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), announced on Monday that its fighters successfully ambushed an Israeli infantry unit in eastern Khan Younis, southern Gaza, resulting in several Israeli soldiers killed and wounded.
According to the statement, Resistance fighters had booby-trapped a house where Israeli occupation forces had taken shelter.
The structure was rigged with both anti-personnel and anti-fortification explosives, which were detonated once the soldiers were inside.
As Israeli reinforcements arrived, Palestinian fighters launched a direct assault using machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), forcing the Israeli military to deploy helicopters to evacuate the remaining personnel under heavy fire and dense smoke.
Bulldozer and tank destroyed in separate attacks
In a separate incident, al-Quds Brigades confirmed it had destroyed an Israeli D9 armored bulldozer using a high-powered, barrel-shaped explosive device in Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis.
In a joint operation carried out with Hamas' al-Qassam Brigades, Resistance fighters also destroyed an Israeli Merkava tank by detonating a powerful side-charge explosive, referred to as a "Thaqeb" device, in the same area.
DFLP also claims attack on Israeli APC
Meanwhile, the National Resistance Forces, the military wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), claimed responsibility for an earlier operation.
In that incident, which occurred five days ago, a pre-placed explosive device was detonated against an Israeli armored personnel carrier (APC) in the town of Abasan al-Jadida.
Resistance operations continue amid Israeli losses
Palestinian Resistance factions continue to carry out high-risk, complex ambushes and targeted attacks across several axes of Israeli military incursion. These operations have inflicted significant casualties and disrupted Israeli advances in southern Gaza.
According to the latest official figures released by the Israeli military, 30 officers and soldiers have been killed since the resumption of the offensive in March. The total number of Israeli military fatalities since the start of the ground invasion now stands at 438.
However, Palestinian sources and independent observers suggest that the real number of Israeli military deaths is likely far higher, citing the Israeli government's ongoing policy of censorship and information suppression intended to maintain public and troop morale. (PW)
