Gaza on the Brink: Medical Relief Centers Hours Away from Total Collapse as Zionist Siege Deepens
Health officials warn that a severe lack of generator fuel and medical supplies threatens the lives of thousands of displaced Palestinians.
GAZA CITY — The suffocating siege imposed on the Gaza Strip by the Zionist regime has pushed the enclave’s fragile healthcare system to the absolute brink, with officials warning that critical medical relief centres will completely cease operations within the next 24 hours.
Dr. Muhammad Abu Afash, the Director of Medical Relief in the Gaza Strip, issued a stark warning on Sunday, stating that a catastrophic shortage of generator oil will force multiple healthcare facilities to shut down. Without an immediate influx of fuel, thousands of vulnerable civilians will be stripped of their last remaining lifelines.
At the heart of the impending crisis is the large Al-Rimal Centre in Gaza City. According to Dr. Abu Afash, the imminent failure of the facility’s main generator will paralyse essential medical care for thousands of citizens. The reliance on backup generators has become absolute, as the Zionist war machine has systematically destroyed the Strip’s main power grids and alternative energy infrastructure over the course of the ongoing genocide.
“The shutdown of the main generator at the Al-Rimal Centre threatens to deprive thousands of citizens of essential services,” Dr. Abu Afash explained. The centre serves as a critical hub for follow-up care for women, children, and the elderly. It is also a primary treatment point for patients suffering from chronic diseases and thalassemia, alongside vital premarital medical examinations.
The crisis extends far beyond the walls of the clinics. Mobile medical units operating among the displaced populations have reported a rampant spread of infectious and skin diseases. Conditions such as scabies, lice, and chickenpox are surging, particularly among young children living in overcrowded and unsanitary displacement camps. Tragically, this public health disaster is being compounded by a severe, deliberate shortage of basic medicines.
Dr. Abu Afash pointed the finger directly at the occupying regime, accusing Zionist authorities of weaponising the humanitarian crisis. He stated that the occupation is actively preventing the entry of desperately needed medicines and stored resources into Gaza, while also refusing to coordinate the safe transfer of existing medical supplies to relief centres.
The ongoing energy crisis, coupled with the blockade of medical supplies, has created a fatal bottleneck. As generators run dry and medicine cabinets sit empty, the ability of Gaza’s heroic healthcare workers to provide care is being eradicated.
For the resilient people of Gaza, this is not merely a logistical failure, but a calculated extension of the collective punishment inflicted upon them. Unless the siege is broken and fuel is allowed to enter immediately, the coming days will witness a catastrophic loss of life among the sick, the elderly, and the youngest victims of the Zionist aggression.
