Gaza Death Toll Rises to 72,736 as Genocide Continues
Gaza’s Health Ministry says the cumulative toll since October 2023 has reached 72,736 martyrs and 172,535 wounded, with hundreds still trapped beneath the rubble.
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Gaza’s Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli genocide has risen to 72,736 martyrs, while the number of wounded has reached 172,535 since the beginning of the aggression on October 7, 2023.
According to the ministry’s latest statistical report, hospitals across the Gaza Strip received five martyrs and 15 injured people over the past 48 hours. The new figures include four newly killed Palestinians and one body recovered from beneath the rubble.
Victims Still Trapped Under Rubble
The ministry stated that a number of victims remain trapped under collapsed buildings and in the streets, while ambulance and civil defense crews are still unable to reach them due to ongoing field conditions and severe movement restrictions in targeted areas.
These obstacles continue to hinder rescue efforts and suggest that the actual number of casualties may be significantly higher than currently documented.
Casualties Continue to Mount After Ceasefire
Since the ceasefire that took effect on October 10, Gaza has recorded 850 martyrs, 2,433 injuries, and 770 bodies recovered from destroyed areas.
The ministry also reported that 103 additional martyrs were added to the cumulative statistics after their identities were fully verified and officially approved by the Martyrs Verification Committee since the beginning of May.
The updated figures underscore the continuing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and the ongoing process of documenting victims as access to devastated areas gradually becomes possible. (PW)
