Gaza: Ceasefire Violations Continue, 4 Martyred in Tent Attacks
Israeli airstrikes, artillery fire, and demolition operations continue across Gaza, marking repeated violations of the ceasefire and worsening the humanitarian toll.
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Four Palestinians were martyred, including two killed in an Israeli drone strike that targeted a tent sheltering displaced families in Khan Younis. Medical sources reported that the strike hit a tent in the Mawasi al-Qarara area, northwest of Khan Younis.
Earlier on Monday, two more Palestinians were martyred and others injured after a five-story residential building collapsed in Al‑Maghazi Refugee Camp.
A medical source at Al‑Aqsa Martyrs Hospital confirmed the arrival of two martyrs, while Gaza’s Civil Defense said rescue teams pulled five injured people from the rubble, including one in critical condition, after the collapse of the Al-Shanna family home.
Civil Defense Struggles Amid Ongoing Bombardment
At the same time, Gaza’s Civil Defense announced it had suspended emergency responses to remove hazards from buildings damaged by Israeli bombardment, citing fuel shortages and a lack of rescue equipment.
In a statement, the agency said it had removed dangers from approximately 3,445 buildings and homes since the ceasefire began in October, but around 1,560 distress calls remain unanswered due to ongoing operational constraints.
Israeli warplanes continued launching airstrikes across multiple areas of the Gaza Strip, alongside intense artillery shelling and ongoing demolition of civilian homes.
Two airstrikes targeted eastern Khan Younis in parallel with large-scale demolition operations. Three additional strikes hit Rafah, while the city’s northwestern areas were subjected to sustained artillery fire. Israeli tanks also opened heavy fire on southern and northern Khan Younis, as artillery shelled eastern Jabalia Refugee Camp and eastern Gaza City.
Ceasefire Violations and Rising Death Toll
Israeli forces continue to violate the ceasefire agreement that entered into force on 11 October 2025. Over the past 24 hours, local sources documented around 40 new violations, including gunfire, limited incursions, and the destruction of civilian infrastructure, resulting in the martyrdom of three Palestinians in Khan Younis.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported that Israeli ceasefire violations have so far resulted in 422 martyrs and 1,189 injuries, in addition to the recovery of 684 bodies. Since the start of the genocidal war on 7 October 2023, the cumulative toll has risen to 71,388 martyrs and 171,269 wounded.
On the political front, an Egyptian source revealed that discussions during an Israeli delegation’s visit to Cairo on 24 December focused on operating the Rafah Crossing under a formula excluding direct Israeli presence.
The proposal would rely on electronic monitoring, allowing Israel to supervise operations remotely, while the European Union would review and verify travel documents. (PW)
