PARIS, France — In a significant political shift regarding Western complicity in occupied Palestine, prominent left-wing presidential candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon has declared that he will enforce the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if elected.
Addressing a massive crowd of approximately 20,000 supporters at a mass rally in Le Bourget, on the outskirts of Paris, on Saturday, the leader of the France Unbowed (LFI) party outlined a sweeping platform aimed at challenging both domestic inequalities and Western imperialist alliances. The 75-year-old candidate, who is gearing up for the 2027 French presidential election, told the crowd, “We must change everything.”
During his speech, Mélenchon made a bold pledge regarding the ongoing war crimes committed by the Zionist regime. He promised that a future government under his leadership would respect international law and execute the ICC’s arrest warrant for Netanyahu, signalling a stark rupture with Paris’s historical unconditional support for Tel Aviv.
Furthermore, the presidential hopeful vowed to immediately withdraw France from the US-led NATO military alliance. This proposed move would mark a dramatic shift in French foreign policy, moving away from the aggressive Western military bloc that has historically enabled Zionist aggression in the region and oppressed nations globally.
On the domestic front, Mélenchon announced a series of populist economic promises designed to alleviate the struggles of the French working class. His platform includes capping the prices of essential food products, raising the minimum wage, heavily taxing the wealthy elite, and restoring the country’s retirement age to 60.
Mélenchon’s vocal stance against the Zionist entity and the US-led military bloc highlights growing anti-imperialist and anti-Zionist sentiment among segments of the European public, who are increasingly demanding accountability for the genocide and ongoing ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank.
