Fourth Round of Iran-US Indirect Talks Set for May 11
Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi Confirms Oman Will Host Continuation of Negotiations on Nuclear Deal and Sanctions Relief
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said the new round of indirect talks with the United States will be held on Sunday, May 11.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Araqchi explained that the Sultanate of Oman, which has been hosting the indirect negotiations between Iran and the US, is responsible for determining the timing and location of the discussions.
“The Omani friends asked us about Sunday, and we declared our approval. They (Omanis) have apparently held talks with the other side (the US) as well. For now, the negotiations are slated for Sunday,” Araqchi said.
Progressing Step by Step Toward Detailed Negotiations
Araqchi emphasized that the negotiations are advancing, though further consultations will be necessary as both sides work through the complexity of the issues involved.
“The negotiations are moving forward. It is natural that we will need further consultations as we move ahead,” he added.
The Iranian foreign minister also noted that the negotiating delegations will need more time to work on the subjects raised during the talks.
“What matters is that we are taking a path forward in order to go into details gradually,” Araqchi stated.
Iran and the United States have already held three rounds of indirect talks in Muscat and Rome on April 12, 19, and 26, mediated by Oman, with the objective of reaching an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program and the removal of sanctions imposed on Tehran. (PW)
