'Eyes of Minab' Installation Greets Foreign Dignitaries at the Leader's Farewell Ceremony
A memorial to the 168 martyred students and teachers of a Minab elementary school stands at the entrance to the hall in Tehran, lending the mourning ceremony a note of quiet reflection
TEHRAN — An art installation honoring the martyred children of the Shajareh Tayyebeh elementary school in Minab has been placed at the entrance to the hall where foreign officials are paying their respects to the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, at Tehran’s Mosalla.
Set beside a portrait of the martyred Leader and his 14-month-old grandchild, the work has lent the ceremony an atmosphere of mourning and reflection.
Titled “Eyes of Minab,” the installation was created to honour the 168 students and teachers of Minab who were martyred, and to keep their memory alive. Developed by the Soore-ye Omid Institute and crafted by the artist Reza Golpayegani, the project seeks to tell the story of the children’s innocence and of the tragedy that befell them through the language of art.
Built around large-scale images of children’s eyes, the installation is designed to invite those attending to pause, to reflect, and to empathise. More than an artistic arrangement, it stands as a visual memorial — an effort to preserve the memory of the students and the suffering they endured.
