Explosions Reported Across Southern Iran
Local sources reported explosions in Sirik, Qeshm, Jask, Bandar Abbas, Minab, and Ahvaz as developments continued across southern Iran.
Iran, PUREWILAYAH.COM — Explosions were reported across several areas of southern Iran early Wednesday, with local sources describing incidents in Sirik, Qeshm Island, Jask County, areas surrounding Bandar Abbas, and along the coastal strip of Minab. Additional reports later emerged from Ahvaz as authorities continued to monitor developments.
Explosions Reported in Qeshm and Jask
Residents and local sources reported hearing explosions in the vicinity of Qeshm Island and Jask County.
In Qeshm, witnesses described sounds resembling aircraft activity and the impact of several projectiles. Preliminary reports suggested that the incidents may have occurred on the southern side of the island.
Additional explosions were also reported in Jask Port in eastern Hormozgan Province. According to local reports, locations in Jask and the Jabal Mubarak area were struck by projectiles.
Explosions Heard Around Bandar Abbas and Minab
Explosions were also reported around Bandar Abbas, although the exact location and nature of the incidents remained unclear.
In Minab, reports indicated that the explosions may have occurred along the county’s coastal strip rather than within the city itself. The Governor of Minab stated that, as of the latest reports, no attack on the city had been recorded.
Local sources later reported renewed explosions in both Jask and Sirik, marking a second wave of incidents since the early hours of Wednesday.
Water Infrastructure Damaged in Sirik
Among the reported targets were two drinking water storage reservoirs in the Bamani district of Sirik County.
Hamzehpour, CEO of Hormozgan Water and Wastewater Company, said a 500-cubic-meter reservoir and a 2,000-cubic-meter reservoir were completely destroyed.
The facilities played a critical role in supplying drinking water to the Bamani district and the city of Kouhestak.
As a result, water distribution was suspended across villages in Bamani and throughout Kouhestak City. Emergency and operational teams were deployed to implement alternative measures aimed at restoring water supplies.
Under international humanitarian law, water infrastructure essential to civilian survival is protected. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) states that attacks against drinking water facilities and supplies are prohibited under the laws of war.
Unconfirmed Reports From Jam and Ahvaz
Reports later emerged of an unidentified object being destroyed in the skies above the city of Jam in Bushehr Province.
Some sources suggested the object may have been an American drone, though no official confirmation was available at the time of publication.
Meanwhile, local sources in Ahvaz reported hearing a sound resembling an explosion. No details regarding the exact location, cause, or possible casualties had been released, and investigations were ongoing.
The situation remains fluid as authorities continue to assess developments across southern Iran. (PW)
