Euro-Med: Israel Continues Using Starvation as a Tool of Genocide by Limiting Humanitarian Access
No trucks were allowed to enter on Monday, under the pretext of releasing Palestinian detainees, nor today due to Jewish holidays.
Palestine, PUREWILAYAH.COM - The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor stated that the threat of famine has not left the Gaza Strip due to the continued reduction of aid, reflecting what it described as Israel’s insistence on using starvation as a tool of genocide.
In its statement on Tuesday, the Monitor explained that the limited quantities of goods and aid allowed into the Strip represent only a small fraction of actual humanitarian needs.
Severe Concerns Over Aid Manipulation
It added:
“We are extremely concerned about Israel’s threats to further reduce humanitarian aid and its refusal to open the Rafah crossing under the pretext of not releasing the bodies of Israeli soldiers.”
The Monitor pointed out that Israel allowed only 173 aid trucks over two days following the ceasefire last Friday. No trucks were allowed to enter on Monday, under the pretext of releasing Palestinian detainees, nor today due to Jewish holidays.
The Monitor affirmed that Israel’s control over the volume of aid and its failure to comply with the ceasefire agreement means it continues to commit the crime of genocide, stressing that the entry of humanitarian aid is not a privilege granted by Israel, but a binding legal obligation.
Call to End Siege and Ensure Neutral Humanitarian Access
It continued:
“Aid must be delivered based on the principles of neutrality and purely humanitarian need, without discrimination, delay, or selectivity.”
The Monitor called for a complete cessation of all military operations and the immediate and total lifting of the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip. It demanded international guarantees to prevent the re-imposition of the siege or the obstruction of aid under any pretext.
The statement warned that any leniency or tolerance toward Israeli violations would effectively mean accepting the reproduction of the same conditions that enabled the crime of genocide. (PW)
