Doha to Host Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit Following Israeli Attack
The Qatari expressed hope for a collective regional response, stressing that consultations with partner countries are still ongoing, and emphasized that Netanyahu must be brought to justice
Qatar, PUREWILAYAH.COM - The Qatari capital, Doha, will host an emergency Arab-Islamic summit next Sunday and Monday to discuss the Israeli attack that targeted Hamas officials in the city.
Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani announced that the summit will determine a regional course of action, though Qatar will not dictate how its partners should respond.
“We hope there will be a collective regional response,” he said, noting that consultations with regional partners are ongoing.
Attack “Killed Any Hope” for Hostages
Sheikh Mohammed said the Israeli strike on a residential compound in Doha has extinguished any remaining hopes for the hostages in Gaza.
“What Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did yesterday was simply to kill any hope for those hostages,” he stated, describing the assault as state terrorism and a betrayal.
He recalled meeting a hostage family on the morning of the attack:
“They are relying on this mediation; they have no other hope.”
Netanyahu Must Be Held Accountable
The Qatari Prime Minister called for Netanyahu to face justice before the International Criminal Court.
“He must be brought to justice… He is violating every law — he has broken all international laws,” Sheikh Mohammed said, accusing Netanyahu of undermining all prospects for stability and peace.
Qatar’s Mediation Role and Future Participation
Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that Qatar’s meetings with Hamas leaders are well known to both Israel and the United States, as part of Doha’s recognized mediation role.
“Everything about the meetings is well known… There is no justification for labeling this as harboring terrorism,” he clarified.
He added that Qatar is now “re-evaluating everything” regarding its role in future ceasefire negotiations, while holding detailed talks with the United States on the way forward. (PW)
